heres one of the big ones,.... is sex before marrage wrong, in the bible it does not say, sex before marrage is wrong, the closest it gets is, do not comit adultry, which does not meen sex before marrage. i personaly believe that i would rather stay a virgin until marrage but i knowm alot of christiand habve alot of diffrent views.

what confuses me is the MASSIVE deal the church makes of it when quite obvously the bible doesnt.

Your statement that the Bible doesn't make a big deal out of it is wrong Tim.

Article from gotquestions
Question: "What does the Bible say about sex before marriage / premarital sex?"

Answer: Along with all other kinds of sexual immorality, sex before marriage / premarital sex is repeatedly condemned in Scripture (Acts 15:20; Romans 1:29; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:13,18; 7:2; 10:8; 2 Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Jude 7). The Bible promotes abstinence before marriage. Sex before marriage is just as wrong as adultery and other forms of sexual immorality, because they all involve having sex with someone you are not married to. Sex between a husband and his wife is the only form of sexual relations that God approves of (Hebrews 13:4).

Sex before marriage has become so common for many reasons. Far too often we focus on the “recreation” aspect of sex without recognizing the “re-creation” aspect. Yes, sex is pleasurable. God designed it that way. He wants men and women to enjoy sexual activity (within the confines of marriage). However, the primary purpose of sex is not pleasure, but rather reproduction. God does not outlaw sex before marriage to rob us of pleasure, but to protect us from unwanted pregnancies and children born to parents who do not want them or are not prepared for them. Imagine how much better our world would be if God’s pattern for sex was followed: fewer sexually transmitted diseases, fewer un-wed mothers, fewer unwanted pregnancies, fewer abortions, etc. Abstinence is God’s only policy when it comes to sex before marriage. Abstinence saves lives, protects babies, gives sexual relations the proper value, and most importantly honors God.

The bible makes a very big deal out of sex before marriage, Tim. Teraside's post from gotquestions is good and right. This particular sentence sums it up: "Sex between a husband and his wife is the only form of sexual relations that God approves of (Hebrews 13:4)"

But it is okay for you to ask about it! It seems like a lot of churches either get confused on the subject, or....they say nothing at all, out of embarrassment.

I hate the way the world has soo perverted something amazing that God has given. I like this analogy about sex before marraige: it's kind of a parable.

There was a man who loved his son. To show him his love the man descided he would give his son a special gift. He and his son went to the bank and the son saw his father take out $20 cash. He was unaware that the next day his father would be giving it to him as a gift. The boy becomes consumed about the twenty dollars. He can't stop thinking about it. It would be so great to have. Finally he can stand it no longer. He slips into his Fathers room in the middle of the night and steals the bill. He rushes back into his room, but in his haste, he tears the bill in two. His joy soon turns to sorrow as he looks at his torn $20. The next morning the father, wanting to give the gift to his son, realizes it is gone. The beautiful gift, has been tainted. It can be patched up but it will never be the same. If only the son had known, just to wait, he could have had his wonderful gift, in the wonderful way his father intended.

Grab some of the scripture that Tera posted and straighten him out :P I had tons of people tell me that as well, and honestly I think that argument only comes from Christians who don't read their bibles. Look up the definition of Fornication, which is repeatedly condemned in scripture.

Sex before marriage is adultery.
Matt 5:27-28 "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart"

Sex surpasses just looking at someone in a lustful way, so it is committing adultery according to this passage.

yeah...guess so...another question... in the bible god ofen refers to the human race as "man". but in the passage about lust he lso mentions woman, so does that mean a woman can lok at a man with lust ? ?

Definately not! Basically you hit the nail on the head when you said that when the Bible referers to man it means mankind. Everyone. So when he says you shouldn't look with lust, it is for all people.

Women are subject to the same sin as men. It's still a sin for her, as much as it is a man. I misunderstood your question at first, and edited this.

Absolutely calluna. The New Testament comdemns sex before marriage outright. Paul said....."It is better to marry than burn" He was saying that if a man has a problem in this area, he should marry.

what so your saying...if a man is going to have sex with a woman and there not married they have to get married even if they dont love each other just so they can have sex ? ? ? ?

Tim---something tells me you already know the answers to these questions you're asking. Especially this last one.

no im confused..."It is better to marry than burn" He was saying that if a man has a problem in this area, he should "...what does that mean ?

It means if they love eachother, and they are going to stay together anyway, you might as well get married. There is no sense in dating forever and burn with passion. It isn't saying get married if your attracted to someone

I am quoting scripture. This area is well covered by scripture. We are not left to our own thoughts. Someone has already reminded us that Jesus said "If a man lust's after a woman he has already comitted adultery with her......in his heart".

Paul was saying that it is better for a man to marry, than to be always lusting after women.

There is no scriptural support for sex before marriage, in fact the converse is set forth as the ideal.
