I know Jesus told the disciples they would handle snakes and not be harmed.(i think human snakes),but Paul also knew rhe Lord told him he was going the destination he was headed for.
Man,storm,shipwreck,viper,nothing can stop a person when God is leading.
It wasnt because Paul was so spiritual,it was that he had faith and believed God that he would reach his destination.
My opinion

'And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks,
and laid them on the fire,
there came a viper out of the heat,
and fastened on his hand.' ... ...
And he shook off the beast into the fire,
and felt no harm.'
(Act 28:3 & 5)

Hello @lentz,

It had nothing to do with Paul, but everything to do with His Almighty God, Who had equipped him for the service he was called upon to do, and to fulfill it. As an Apostle of the ascended Lord, Paul was Divinely equipped for all that came his way in the course of his ministry, and was enabled to finish his course, and complete his race with honour, by God's wondrous grace.

'For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
.. I have fought a good fight,
.... I have finished my course,
...... I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:
and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.'
(2Tim. 4:6-8)

Praise God!

Thank you. I see it has everything to do with Paul. It was his faith in his Almighty God.. It also shows when God gives you an errand,you will not die until job is completed,as long as you remain faithful. Even if it takes 1000 years to accomplish the task.

'I am become a fool in glorying;
ye have compelled me:
for I ought to have been commended of you:
for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles,
though I be nothing.
Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you
in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.
(2 Cor. 12:11-12)

'I thank my God always on your behalf,
for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
That in every thing ye are enriched by Him,
in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,
So that ye come behind in no gift;
waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall also confirm you unto the end,
that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God is faithful, by Whom ye were called
unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.'
(1Cor. 1:4-9)

Praise His Holy Name!

Hello @lentz,

When I read the above, and responded to it, I had not read it correctly. You say that it has 'everything' to do with Paul. His faith in God. I disagree. God chose Paul to be an Apostle of the risen Lord, and equipped Him accordingly. It is all of God, and not of Paul. It is from the risen Christ that, 'grace,' and, 'Apostleship', and, 'the obedience to the faith,' was given. It was not of Paul.

'By Whom (Christ Jesus)
we have received grace and apostleship,
for obedience to the faith
among all nations,
for His Name:'
(Rom 1:5)
'But by the grace of God I am what I am:
.. and His grace
.... which was bestowed upon me
...... was not in vain;
but I laboured more abundantly than they all:
.. yet not I,
.... but the grace of God
...... which was with me.'
(1 Cor. 15:10)

Thank you

Yes. God chose and called Paul. But it still hinges on Paul's faith,same as ours.

there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand,
they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer,
whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.'
(Act 28:3-5)

Hi @lentz,

Looking at the record of this event, I can't see that faith had any part in it. He did not deliberately handle the viper, it attached itself to him, yet without any harm coming to him. He was able to shake it off.

That is The woman and the sister in Christ that I want to live throughout all eternity and sit down at The Foot of Our Father which art in heaven and being filled with The GLORY of GOD The FATHER forever more and then some more! I wish i could speak in the common mans vernacular about now! I could make some music with the flavor of Words expressions. and more value to the common, than which is spoken in the unknown tongue! For we are one body "in Christ" and that is played like an "Orchestrated" venue.

NASB 1995 Ephesian 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
