And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
2 Peter 2:3

For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.(NIV)
Romans 16:18

So many people are being fleeced and not fed by these false teachers.
This video shows shocking twisting of the scriptures.....to benefit the preachers pocket. False gospel.

The true gospel is about Jesus, His love, His mercy, His death on the cross, His ressurection, His free gift to us all.

Let us keep His name lifted on high

Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness
2 Peter 3:17

Just a little relevant passage here copied from sister Coconuts thread, Discerning False Prophets

The enemy knows that our discernment is at its lowest when our needs are the greatest. He can easily deceive us with a supposed word from God (from a false prophet) that appears to meet our needs. "If you need your bills to be paid send money to this good ground TV ministry!" It is important to remember that a false prophet's purpose is to eat the sheep, or better said, eat off the sheep. Be careful of those who feel entitled to your provision! It is a loud signal that a wrong spirit is speaking!

Those most susceptible to this deception are those who have yet to die completely to themselves; those who still reside in the outer court, in their soul. Man followers are also highly susceptible to this deception - those who subscribe to teachings like 'being under the covering of a pastor or denomination' (
Matthew 23:8-11). Those who follow men have one strong commonality - no power when trials come!

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it" (
Matthew 7:13,14).

Let us dear brothers ans sisters keep looking unto Jesus and His love, that we may share His true gospel

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Hebrews 2:9

Brother Copeland Has shown me to be a giver. His own ministry gave me over 500.00 worth of free books, bibles and materials while I was in prison, no charge.

This brother taught me to stand on the Word, sent me a letter in prison to not give up on my wife, who was with someone else, told me to stand, believe, don't give up.

This brother taught me to never back down in the face of any sickness or disease, told me to trust God, and never let go.
The day they told me my son would die, I could hear brother Copelands voice in my head, Never quit!!! God won't quit you, with long life he will satisfy your children.

So Fragrant Grace, you have become a judge, I know Brother Copeland, he has sown millions into other Churches fed many in homeless shelters, always travels at his own expenses, taught me money is not important, put God first, sow even if its your bill money, trust God.

************** Edited after Correction from a brother*******************

I have learned long ago to never judge another mans servant, learned no matter how awful the teaching is to not set them out, but pray for them. I hope you learn the same before it's to late.

My experiences with Copeland are very different and much more negative than yours Mike.

Copeland's ministries do not let any outsiders look at the books and it sends the message that something is deliberately hidden. There are reports that He travels with family and friends on personal outings using the ministry's aircraft and fuel. He does indeed live a very lavish life also.
But most importantly his teaching and interpretation of scripture are errant and he has never taken responsibility for the many false prophecies he has spoken.

My advice is to steer clear of Copeland ministries until there is some definite corrections made in his teaching and life style.

Thank you Jiggyfly:

Thank you Brother Jiggfly. I know, I get that many do not appreciate brother Copeland. Certainly His ministry has given me far more material, than money I have sown to him. I mean anything I request while in prison was just sent to me, no matter the cost of it.

I received some personal letters about my situation from his anointed staff, stuff to just believe when all looked hopeless, stuff that did come to pass.

My point is, We are not to judge. If you don't like certain teaching, then certainly point out the teaching with scriptures.

Putting your mouth on someone that preaches healing, and giving, means you despise your own healing, and cut your own blessing.
You need God to heal, and bless your own kids, yet slander someone God uses to teach the Word on these subjects?

Without Brother Copeland, I have no idea how I would have made it through my broken marriage, with my wife sleeping with someone else, learning the knowledge of forgiveness, and the day they told me my son would die............ I hope nobody has to hear that about their own child, but Thank you Brother Copeland for your teaching on trusting God, and never being moved.

Brother Hinn

There are lots of great things I can say about Brother Hinn, He certainly can encourage, However, If I had the place, I would question brother Hinn about not keeping his word to the media, and question a few other things. I believe we should keep each other in Check, and I have scripture for that.

Rom 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

I don't have scripture for setting out people, and accusing them falsely.
Most people accuse and can't even defend what they are accusing in Scripture..................... That is right.

I want scripture to prove what is being taught is wrong, and trust me, you best be worded up, and ready if your going to go there. speaking out of knowledge you don't even posses is wrong.

Austin Sparks

There are lots of things I don't agree with from Brother Sparks, but some things, are just profound and awe inspiring. Why don't I agree with him all the time? Could just be I don't have the foundation to understand his message. Could be he might be wrong, Or I just misunderstood his direction. One thing I do know, I would not tear him down, not a man of God. Me agreeing with him, does not make the man, or break the man. God does that. I am smart enough to not judge someone that knows more than I.

Jesus Is Lord.

I have to agree there must be balance when approaching these things.

I usually never even bother to examine things with headlines that appear biased.

The "Tithing" Scam Exposed

This headline tells me it's a "scam" before presenting any evidence.

This video shows shocking twisting of the scriptures
Why not just say this video shows scripture that should be considered.

There are 1000 others ways this could have been presented that would at least give me the impression that it is going to be balanced.
I am always leery of anything that tells me what to think in the title.
I didn't bother to view the video because I'm not going to listen to to anyone who has an agenda and that title is a sure sign that they do.

I don't see the tithe as being for Gentiles converted under the covenant of grace and I believe I have scripture to back that up.
I really don't need to embellish my opinion with colorful adjectives nor do I need to point any fingers.

Quote from TV show Dragnet: "Just the facts mam"

Quote from Apostle Paul:
Philippians 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

Rejoice,ya,rejoice

Mike we have been all over this before and I have posted many many scriptures and yet you continue to look at the scriptures with the WOF paradigm. I have heard many of the WOF movement's icons brag and boast about being rich with worldly materials/money and claim that God want's every believer to be rich, if this were true then by the scriptures we can also conclude that God want's to make it hard on everyone to enter heaven/ kingdom.

Greetings Thiscrosshurts

Yes the title of the video is a perhaps a 'judgemental' statement.

However, I see it more as a 'warning' like one may get on cigarette packets to point out the dangers.

This world is more and more being led astray and deceived by errant teachings. The flocks are indeed being fleeced.

Paul clearly teaches and warns against false doctrines.

Let us preach Christ and Him crucified
Let us praise Him for His free gift to us all
Let us share the one and only true gospel

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ
2 Corinthians 4:3-6

Ps The whole tithing series by Copeland is available on Youtube...if you wish to see for yourself what is being taught

Hi Grace,
I would rather say all my research leads me to believe that the doctrine has no place in the Body of Christ.
I was actually part of the "Word of Faith" in the early to mid 90's and I eventually left because the focus on money was unbalanced.
We should be careful when slaughtering other peoples cows.
I'm not certain the tithe doctrine is any more harmful than the many other doctrines I feel are false.

So I agree that we need to get this doctrine exposed as not scriptural but it is a solid position so it doesn't need spectacular headlines and we really don't need to point anyone in particular out seeing that there are probably over 1000 prosperity preachers in the US alone.

Speaking Out Against False Teachers

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Romans 16:17

If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Timothy 6:3-5

Something below to share with you

Speaking out against False Teachers

Many think it is wrong to speak out against false teachers, or to warn Christians not to follow particular teachers because of their teachings. What does the Bible say about this?
"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron...If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed" (1 Timothy 4:1-2,6).

Notice that Paul specifically exhorts that the brethren should be made aware of false teachings. Notice that he says "if you point these things out to the brethren, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus" ). So Paul is telling us that a "good minister of Christ Jesus" points out false teachings.
If that is not enough, how about

"but there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovreign Lord who bought them - bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping" (2 Peter 2:1-3).

Here Peter warns us of the rise of false teachers within the church. But it is not without reason. Notice that the heresies they preach are "destructive" and that following them will "bring the way of truth into disrepute."
"But none of these verses mention specific teachers," you say?

"Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, holding on to the faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith. Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme" (1 Timothy 1:18-20).

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have wandered away from the truth..." (2 Timothy 2:15-18).

Here Paul has mentioned false teachers by name, in order that they be warned, and others be warned of their false teachings, and with purpose. The men mentioned here, through their false teachings, have "blaspheme[d]" and "shipwrecked their faith." By their false teachings ("godless chatter"), they and those who follow them "become more and more ungodly." In order that they may become more godly, we must turn them away from these ungodly teachings.
]How do we do this? Compare what the preachers teach to what the Bible says. Even Paul was not above having his teachings checked:

"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true" (Acts 17:11).

Who could teach the Scriptures more reliably than Paul? Were the Bereans criticized for comparing his teachings to Scripture? No! On the contrary, they were commended for doing so. So why are those who question the teachings of some of the most popular preachers criticized?

Maybe this verse will help answer that question:

"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths" (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

We cannot judge anyone's heart or their motives. We must be very careful in this matter.

"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted" (Galatians 6:1).

We must not be hypocritical or judgemental in our correction. We must, however, examine every teaching that comes from every teacher in light of Holy Scripture. Scripture itself exhorts us to do so when it says,

"dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1).

If I have not yet listed enough scripture warning against false teachers, then the following list of verses should help:

Matthew 7:15-23; Matthew 24:10; Mark 22:23; Acts 20:25-31; Romans 16:17-18; Galatians 1:6-9; Colossians 2:8,18-19; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; 1 Timothy 1:3-7; 1 Timothy 1:18-20; 1 Timothy 4:1-8,16; 1 Timothy 5:3-10; 1 Timothy 6:20-21; 2 Timothy 2:14-18; 2 Timothy 3:1-9; 2 Timothy 4:1-5; Titus 1:9-16; 2 Peter 2:1-22; 2 Peter 3:14-18; 1 John 1:18-27; 1 John 4:1-6; 2 John 7-11; Jude 3-19

This is by no means a comprehensive list. Many others warnings exist in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Hopefully this has shown that, not only is it not wrong to confront and speak out against false teachers, but because of the spiritual devastation they cause, it is our obligation to Christ and the brethren to do so. Let me leave you with the words of the apostle Paul:

'I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears"
(Acts 20:29-31).

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
