Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become [the kingdoms] of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!" Revelation 11:15 NKJV
There are no shortcuts to success.
After Adam and Eve ushered sin into the world, God began His rescue plan. The devil would pay for his misdeeds, the sins of man would be righteously punished, and people would one day rejoin Him in the kingdom of heaven. The plan was good, but it took time to accomplish. Thousands of years passed.
Before Jesus began His earthly ministry, the devil tempted Him with a shortcut. If Jesus would only bow down to him, the devil would hand over his earthly kingdom. But Jesus didn’t want an earthly kingdom; He was willing to die for the kingdom of heaven. Since then, thousands of years have passed.
At the end of time, when the devil has been cast into the pit, when the sins of man are a thing of the past, the kingdom of the world will become the kingdom of our Lord, of our Messiah.
When faced with a shortcut—to God-like knowledge or an earthly kingdom—wait. Put your success in God’s hands, and trust in His timing. Thousands of years may pass, but that’s nothing compared to eternally enjoying God’s presence in His kingdom.
Prayer: Lord, protect me from tempting shortcuts that lead away from Your kingdom.
