I found myself in my mid-forties, and divorced due to an ex-wife's infidelities and thought I would probably spend the rest of my life alone. Imagine my suprise when I slowly began to find myself attracted to a woman that worked at a store while shopping. I've never been one that could just approach women and ask for a date, and so it took quite a bit of courage to ask her out. She told me she was already seeing someone, and I thought, oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
A year later, I felt that her situation was somehow different and contemplated calling her to ask if she was still "seeing" someone. But first, I would pray about it. I prayed and asked God to send me some sign if I should ask her out. The next day, as I was riding by the store, there on the back window of her car, in letters a foot tall "God Loves YOU".
Still I hesitated, until one night while watching some show on the Church Channel, and the speaker was talking about whether it's appropriate to seek signs. He mentioned how Abraham and Sarah's servant, while sent to seek a wife for Isaac, asked God for a sign. Whichever woman offered him a drink from the well would be the right woman. Her name as you know was Rebecca. The woman I was attracted to, yes, Rebecca.
I followed His leading, and asked her out. Right now it's a friendship, but who knows where He will lead us? Praise God!
