Sinclair Ferguson: Strange Fire

I think John MacArthur coined the term "strange fire" first.

But I find it interesting that something mentioned in the New testament is "strange" to them. John the Baptize said this would come from Jesus.

Matt 3:11; "As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Luke 3:16; John answered and said to them all, "As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Heb 12:29; for our God is a consuming fire.

Why is it, that something John the Baptist said would happen to those who receive the Holy Spirit, is "strange" to some pastors?

I agree with what you're saying.

When I watched the video I didn't get the sense that the speaker was speaking against that "fire" mentioned by John.
My understanding was that he was speaking about the fact that in worship many make it about them and not about God.

For example he spoke about the "seeker movement" and he stated there is a seeker, but the seeker is God.
God is seeker us, and we should worship to the glory of God not shop around trying to find a worship style
which fits us. That was my understanding from the video. Not so much the fact that the fire or worship is
"strange" but when the motivation is about what makes "me" happy in worship and not what is pleasing to God.
Then that style of worship or that motivation for worship I gather the speaker is saying is "strange".
