I haven't been here for a while because I've been very sick with a sinus infection. I thank Jesus I'm recovering. He saw me through this illness which I didn't take so well. So many times I felt him so near to me and I've been so blessed.

It all began with a flu and after one week it went into the infection. I've never had this before and I didn't know what was happening to me. My doctor perscribed zithromax antibiotic and it worked right away. But I still have a lingering cold, stuffy nose and coughing and all that stuff coming up...I'm wondering when it will ever go away. My patience is wearing thin. Oh, how I miss my health and I intend to thank Jesus even more for it.

Being sick actually gave me time to reflect on the human body and how temporary and vulnerable it is. When one thinks about all the ailments in this world it's frightening. Let's ask for God's protection from the germs, bacteria and all ailments that we are suseptable to. Flu season is here and I know many who are suffering right now.

GBU all!

My prayers are with you Mouse.

When one thinks about all the ailments in this world it's frightening. Let's ask for God's protection from the germs, bacteria and all ailments that we are suseptable to. Flu season is here and I know many who are suffering right now.
Yes Lord, renew our bodies, restore those who are sick. Amen.

Being someone who always get sick around this season, your post encouraged me to do a search on prevention.

Prevention (from eMedicineHealth )
Prevention of a sinus infection depends on its cause.

Avoid contracting upper respiratory tract infections.
Obtaining the influenza vaccination yearly will help to prevent the flu and subsequent infection of the upper respiratory tract. Other flu medicines, such as Relenza and Tamiflu, if taken at the onset of symptoms, may also help to prevent infection.
Maintain strict hand–washing habits and avoid people who are obviously suffering from a cold.
In some studies, zinc carbonate lozenges (Cold–Eeze and others) have been shown to reduce the duration of many cold symptoms.

Stress reduction and a diet rich in antioxidants, especially fresh, dark–colored fruits and vegetables, may help strengthen the immune system.
Plan for seasonal allergy attacks.

If sinus infection is caused by seasonal or environmental allergies, avoiding allergens is very important. If avoidance is not an option, either OTC or prescription medication may be helpful. OTC antihistamines or decongestant nasal sprays can be used for an acute attack.

People who have seasonal allergies may benefit from nonsedating prescription antihistamines during those allergy–season months.

Avoid spending long periods outdoors during allergy season. Close the windows to the house and use air conditioning to filter out allergens when possible. Humidifiers may also be helpful.

Stay hydrated

Maintain good sinus hygiene by drinking plenty of fluids to keep nasal secretions thin.

Avoid air travel. If air travel is necessary, use a nasal decongestant spray prior to departure to keep the sinus passages open and frequently instill saline spray during flight.

Use of saline nasal sprays (available at drug stores) help keep the nasal passages moist, thus helping remove infectious agents. Inhaling steam from a bowl of boiling water or in a hot, steamy shower may also help.

Avoid allergens in the environment

People who suffer from chronic sinusitis should avoid areas and activities that may aggravate the condition, such as cigarette smoke, secondhand smoke, and diving under water in chlorinated pools.

Good post Rizen. I should go buy that saline nasal spray. I usually avoid those sprays as I hear they can be addictive. I wished I knew where the heck I picked this sinus bug up. I'm all paranoid I'm going to get it again.

In regards to inhaling steam I must send a warning out to everyone. I had been doing this directly from the boiling pot on the stove. After many days I didn't feel right, something aside from the usual illness. I asked Jesus to show me what was making me feel this way and He did. It hit me in the middle of the night as though Jesus spoke to me right there....the pot had been giving off bad vapors and I had been taking them in for at least one whole week!! I had a small panick attack after realizing what I had been doing. I was sure I had poisoned myself. I really can't thank Jesus enough for what He's done for me.

I recommend hot showers or run hot water in the sink and put a towel over your head and breath in the steam. That way you'll avoid dangerous fumes.

P.S. I also read that ginger helps fight off bad stuff so I bought ginger root and have been putting a small piece in my drinking water.

Apple cider vinegar is a powerful detoxifying and purifying agent. It breaks down fatty, mucous and phlegm deposits within the body, and contains a potent supply of potassium which researchers feel is helpful in easing the effects of common colds and allergies, including mucous formation, watery eyes, sinus and catarrhal problems.

Some people mix the vinegar with water, I prefer to mix 2T in a glass of welch`s grape juice and drink it that way...2 or 3 times a day.

I was going to give up having the cider vinegar tablets which I find easier to take than drinking it. It was supposed to help lower the cholesterol and my cholesterol went even higher and I had been on them for a year when I went for the blood test. However, since reading your post above coconut and having been free from colds I will continue to take them. There are some who think differently about them but it is good to know you also support taking this too. I take one 3 times a day. I did read on a website about all the benefits there are from taking this cider vinegar.

Here is the site which gives a lot of information:

Apple cider vinegar information page. The miracle of this natural remedy.

God bless

I am presently being treated for a sinus infection. The doctor says that these infections are difficult to treat. Don't let it go untreated it can cause major problems.

I will pray for you. Is this your first?
What kind of major problems does it cause if untreated?!
