IRAQ: Two Christian Sisters Killed by Islamic Extremists

On 12 November, two sisters were killed and their mother wounded by a gang of Islamic extremists in the Al Qahira section of Mosul, Iraq, according to VOM contacts. The gunmen shot one of the sisters as she was waiting for a bus outside their home. They then stormed into the home, killed the other sister and injured their mother. A bomb placed by the assailants at the entrance of the house detonated as police arrived on the scene, injuring several officers.

This incident is the latest in a series of attacks on Christians that have occurred in Mosul, in recent weeks. Since October, more than seven Christians have been killed and more than 200 families displaced. The Christian community in Iraq is estimated to be 3 percent of Iraq's 26 million people, or about 800,000. Some Christians believe they are being targeted in an effort to wipe out the Christian community's economic activity and drive believers from the area. Since 2003, Christian leaders, churches and businesses in Iraq have been targeted by Islamic extremists. As a result, many believers have fled.

The Voice of the Martyrs encourages you to pray for this family as they mourn their loss and for healing for the injured mother. VOM is working to provide assistance to this grieving family. VOM has also responded with 300 Actions Packs to help persecuted and displaced believers in Mosul. Pray displaced families will return safely to their homes, and ask God to protect them and other believers in Iraq as they risk their all for their faith.

May the Lord be glorified through this persecution, and may we all see a need to get close with Jesus and each other and pray all the more for those who are so heavily persecuted for their love and faith in Jesus our Lord,

Bless you ....><>

See, this is Christian news that your local news channel does not talk about. They'll talk about who hit a home run, what celebrity is wearing what dress, movie ratings, some ACLU non-sense, etc but they never talk about Christians being persecuted. I'm not surprised.

These people do indeed risk everything. They live their life in danger, in the line of fire so to speak every single day while preaching about Jesus. That's some serious faith and serious devotion. Let us not complain about measly things or issues we have that just cannot compare to what these believers face each day.

Let us pray for them. I would hate to be in their position. So I am forever grateful for what we have here and admire their strong faith through it all.

GOD bless them.

I agree Chad

O Lord, may we ever count our blessings and be thankful to You for all we have. Give us a burning passion and more love in our hearts to keep these dear suffering saints ever before Thy throne in prayer.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, for He is faithful that promised. Heb 10:23

yea sister julia..

I also agree here. Such faith are admirable. If i place myself in their position, i can't believe if i could stand for it.

The Lord is really good and amazing.. He knows i can't so just put me in to where my limits are. Praise the Lord.

We give you thanks God that you are awesome and wonderful.. We just believe that you are able and willing to keep this brothers and sisters and their faith in you as they undergo/face trials and severe persecutions because of your name. Let alone your name be glorified in all these we pray. Comfort them Lord with your love and peace that passeth all understanding, keeping them through. Lord God Almighty, we thank you and we entrust them all to you. Meet all their needs Lord wherever they are today. Come to their aid, In Jesus name we pray. Amen

God bless you Brother Bear for the post.

In Christ,

Sister reymielin
