Sons and mothers

Do mother's naturally overindulge and prize their sons far more than daughters? Though it is usually an unconscious thing.

Sons are always being presented with sweet treats and goodies, many men never seem to grow up around their mum's.
Daughters look on, thinking 'what a big baby!' when they see their husbands and brothers being pampered on visits, eating foods denied at home because at home they are told they must watch their weight.

Ha! Your entry made me smile. Yes, I have observed that there is a tendency for the son born into a family to be adored. I think it is natural, and harmless as long as care is taken to ensure that his siblings are treated equally. For the love for each is equal, it is just an added delight to have a son, to carry on the family name, and in days gone by it would have ensured another source of material wealth for the family. Providing for the needs of the family at large, and ensuring it's survival materially.

I had two girls, but they have both produced boys, and my heart melts at the sight of them.

Mothers "in general" tend to favor sons, and fathers "in general" tend to favor their daughters. I think it goes to the natural liking of the opposite sex that promotes the favor, and not sexual appetites, more like wanting more of the male/female bonds we tend to want, and sometimes dont get even when we marry. I say in general, because its not always true, but happens more often than it doesnt it seems to me.
