The thing I love about smoothies is they are so healthy and easy to prep and drink. They count toward the recommended 5-10 portions of fruit and veg that we are supposed to consume and many have the added benefit of having milk, yoghurt or ice cream in (good for making sure you and especially your kids get the RDA of calcium to help growing bones). They are also great to freeze as ice lollies (popsicles). This is my favourite because it is:
*extremely easy
*serves 2
*prep time 10 mins
Ingredients:
300 ml/10 fl oz milk
1/2 tsp mixed spice
150g/ 5 1/2 oz banana ice cream (I usually use vanilla ice cream)
2 bananas sliced and frozen (I've done this without freezing them before)
Method:
*Pour milk into a food processor and add the mixed spice. Add half of the banana ice cream and process gently until combined then add the remaining ice cream and process until well blended.
*When the mixture is well combined, add the bananas and process until smooth. Pour the mixture into tall glasses, add straws and serve at once.
