Hie,

Isnt it there are 9 gifts of the spirit 1 cor 12.until this year i have always known that i had the gift of faith.Now i have been blessed with the gift of Prophecy but i dont really know how this gift works.2 Tim1:6 says we should stir up the gift of the spirit within us,but i dont know how to do that, I am realy praying about it so that the Holy Spirit can show me and teach me how to do this.

I Just want to find out how some of my fellow believers stir up their gifts.if there is someone who also has the gift of prophecy may they please tell me about their experiences.

Grace and peace

Praise the Lord it's always good to hear about God's people allowing the Holy Spirit to work, so God can get the glory.

Having bible study is very important. The only way to feed your spirit or to equip ourselves is by reading the bible. Setting time aside daily to receive from God, more wisdom, understanding and knowledge.

Worship, praise him.

Remove yourself from anything that would hinder your walk, it can be people, movies or music. Be mindful of your words, life and death is at the power of the tongue. Keep your mind on Jesus, walking in the fruits of the spirit daily.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." (Galatians 5:22)

Thats it.

Quick note to readers, please respect the purpose of this thread. Do not bring any type or form of debate considering gifts of the Holy Spirit. There's a time and place for everything. Right now all intent should be on how to build one another.

Any spiritual gift is from God.....you simply allow him to work the gift through you, it is not of yourself, but a gift.
wait on the Lord, he will use it apart from any effort on your own.
Trust him, wait on him, he will bring words to your mouth that you didn't even know.

Yes by all means read the Bible, it is Gods heart to us, it is his character, he values his word above all his name.
Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.2 Timothy 2:15

How do you know that you have the gift of prophecy?
If you do, I would assume you have already used this gift.
If so, continue in the same way that you have been doing after you discovered you have it

Now i have been blessed with the gift of Prophecy but i dont really know how this gift works.

There's a difference between the gift of prophesy and the office of prophet. I've been used to deliver prophetic words (speaking forth the Word of God) in small group settings many times, but I'm not annointed to be a prophet. Many people are used by the Holy Spirit to deliver prophesies & words of knowledge, but few are called to the ministry of prophet because the ministry of a prophet - as I understand it - involves much study of the Word and speaking in large group settings.
