The call to earth is very strong.
It cries, "This life is far too long.
What struggles you have faced e'er now,
Behold the sweat upon your brow.
For night is black and friends are few,
That would the darkness bear with you.
Come join the armies now at rest.
Come sleep the slumber of the blessed."
Yet cries Another in the night,
"Hold fast your ground; stand up and fight!
I'll never leave you, fowl or fair,
Though tempests rage or fires flare.
I'll lead you through the angry night,
Until breaks forth the morning's light.
I have you ever in my
sight.
Hold fast your ground; stand up and fight!"
