Striving for what we obtain

I wrote this on November 28th, 2011 regarding the everyday life of the common individual:

Everyone dreams of a better life for themselves and for others, yet we are locked in the battle either way. We see the world around us as either an obstacle to be overcome, or a wall that holds us back. We hide behind a false premise of humbleness all the while damning everything around us. We all hate traffic, yet we are part of it. We all hate greed yet we all partake in it. We all hate everything equally yet are combined together within everything it is we hate. We are a part of our own hatred, yet we don't accept our role in it, and blame others for it. It's nobody's fault but our own. Our greed for bigger and better causes apathy for what we already have, yet once we are able to obtain something of greater value to ourselves, we begin to grow complacent with it, eventually growing into apathy about it once again so we seek out that which we feel is bigger and better.
It's a viscious cycle of greed and loathing. We grow to hate what it is we have surrounded ourselves with, yet feel the need to obtain more of it. We fight against others who have the resources to construct the things we want so badly in our lives, simply to watch it collect dust. Struggling to maintain even the simplest of lifestyles we are forced into a routine pattern of emptiness and boredom simply so we can say we have a place to call home. Our efforts are no longer shown in the way we act, but by the lavish possessions we carry. Adorned with gold and silver, suited in fine cloth, and carried by elegance, we scorn those who have not made their way to our level yet attempt to force them into that lifestyle all the same. A bitter betrayal between people and another cycle of apathy and loathing between parties. Nobody is right in a world where everyone looks at the other as being wrong.

Today I re-read what I had written and laid it against the word of God.

Matthew 6:19-21 reads: "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Luke 12:15 reads: And he said to them, "Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
If we humble ourselves, we will not thirst for more and more because we have everything we need. There is no purpose to obtain worldly goods that will end up being crated away somewhere to collect dust.

1 Timothy 6:9: But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
Why force ones self into the situations that cause undue grief - just like traffic and the greed for more.

Lets not forget Proverbs 22:16: "One who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and one who gives gifts to the rich—both come to poverty." It's a commonplace thing that happens all around us, and we have seen through the greed of several multi-national corporations what it actually leads to.

In our daily lives we are confronted by the commercialist society that stands before us. We have the choice between the all-new and the slightly used, but we also have the choice of neither. In this rat-race we force ourselves into each day, we must be reminded of the teachings of Jesus and what it is that we're really here for.
Luke 12:15: And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

May God bless you.

Wealth...........

1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Job 36:11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

If not spending your years in pleasure and prosperity. Did you really have faith and/or obey the Lord?

Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Luk 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
Luk 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

Pro 13:22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

Psa 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

Deu 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Is it possible to obtain massive wealth, not having to go through being covetousness, grief, pain or loving money?

Pro 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
