Hey guys,

I'm new to the site and I just wanted to reach out to some fellow believers for support. I have been a child of God for most of my life, I've had ups and downs and in these last 2 years I have really grown in my faith and have placed God's will for my life above my own. I have been trying to get into His Word everyday so that I can learn more about Jesus and to become more like Him. I recently read a verse(I don't remember which one) and for some weird reason it confused me. I have always been okay and never had any issues with the trinity but it just confused me. It basically talked about how God the Father would then take authority back from Christ. I have never had this struggle and its honesty scaring me. I don't want to lose my faith over confusion with the trinity. Now I find myself asking questions like Since Jesus is God Himself then why is He called God's Son. I have never worried about my view on this before because I guess you would say it was a child like faith. How do I get over this and get back to my amazing journey with my Savior??

here is the verse

“And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. For the Scriptures say, “God has put all things under his authority.” (Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority.) Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authority, so that God, who gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:26-28‬ ‭NLT‬‬
1 Corinthians 15:26-28, New Living Translation (NLT) And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. For the Scriptures say, “God has put all things under his authority.” (Of course, when it says “all...

I searched through all scripture verses that speak of authority and found none that speak about authority taken away from Christ.

The trinity is a paradox. God is three, yet at the same time one.

Lots of people stumble over this. Simple faith makes the paradox spiritually perceivable but not fully understandable. Christ is equal to his Father in all things, yet willingly subjects himself to the Father in a relational way.

Most places the word God is used in the New Testament it is a reference to the Father. That doesn't negate the fact that Jesus is God.

It's not bad to think about these things. It is bad to pick sides, and say God is one but not three, or God is three, but not one. That never leads anywhere good.

I hope you find peace regarding his subject.

If you are trying to understand it in it's fullness... Ha, good luck.

Blessings to you,

Travis

Jesus submitted Himself to God's will to suffer and die despite His fear of what He knew to come. No authority was taken from Jesus, and scripture says all authority was Given to Christ in both earth and heaven. You have been listening to the voice of fear and lies. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean NOT on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He WILL direct your paths.

First welcome to Talk Jesus Contagious!
Home you have found a home away from home :)

Hope you find what you're looking for here. Fellowship, prayer, growth in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Found a quick link that you might take a look at and I hope it helps. It deals with the different nature of Jesus.

If Jesus Is God, Then why Did He Say the Father Was Greater Than He?|Jesus Has Two Natures|Jesus Was Subject to the Laws of God

Now I'm off to work!
Once again be welcome!

I am a simple man brother Contagious,so I will make this simple! As you know as the scripture says no one has ever seen God. Yet Jesus tells Philip if you have seen me, you have seen the Father!( john 14:9-11) God in his perfection is Spirit, just like we are in him. God came in an imperfect state of being( flesh) so that men and women of flesh could testify of his truth as Spirit! In flesh he always born witness of his true nature as Spirit did he not?

If Jesus were not God,and only a figurehead of who he represented, then he could have never have said( john 14:6) and he sure could never have rose from the dead either! Some make the trinity so complicated! When people look at you on the street is this your true nature? NO! We as believers represent as flesh like Jesus did,so that we through him bear witness to his truth, and nature of life,as his new creature he created!( 2 cor 5:17-21!!) The difficult part in this is many who claim to be believers have forgot to start acting like that new nature! The only work we have is to believe, and our life speaks as to that very belief!( john 6:28-29) We are suppose to be able to say,If you have seen me, then you have seen the Father in me!( matt 5:13-16!!) verse 16!! Hope this helps you.

Good afternoon Contagious;

Welcome to Talk Jesus. There are good people here to learn from who are knowledgeable about Scripture and apply it to their lives.

Your question is a good one. There are two POVs on the subject: modalism, and trinitarianism. Modalism states that God is alone, but acts out in role playing Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Trinitarianism (triune) states that there is one God whose personages of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit can interact but are still one God united in purpose. The first three and fourteenth verses of the first Chapter of John outline who and where Jesus came from. As Christ, he is a physical man subject to the same rules you and I are. As Jesus, he is the mighty God as described in Isaiah 9:6.

Think of God as an atom which can not be divided despite it having parts which can be uniquely described. We aren't born knowing who or what God is. Paul says that we perceive the majesty of God as looking through a dark glass. The group which will be more than happy to refute every thing I've said by claiming God is one is the Oneness Pentecostals. Yes, I agree with the words of Jesus which said, "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord". But, the Bible does convey the fact that Jesus is God, the Father is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. God cannot be divided as our body, mind, and nature can not be divided and still exist.
