ERITREA - Students Imprisoned in Shipping Container, Bibles Burned

On August 5, Eritrean authorities locked eight high school students into a metal shipping container and burned hundreds of Bibles at Sawa Defense Training Center.

According to Compass Direct News, the students were imprisoned in the container after they objected to authorities confiscating and burning 1,500 Bibles taken from new students who arrived at the training center for the new 2008-2009 school year. “During the time that the Bibles were set on fire, the Chief Commander of Sawa, Col. Debesai Ghide, gave a warning to all the students by telling them that Sawa is a place of patriotism, not a place of Pentes [Pentecostals]. Eight male students, to whom God gave boldness to speak against the burning of the Bibles, have been taken into custody in one of the metal containers that the military uses as prison cells for Christians who have been found practicing in the center,” Compass reported.

The Voice of the Martyrs provides assistance and encouragement to persecuted believers in Eritrea. VOM supports the families of martyred believers through their Families of Martyrs fund. Pray these students will be released. Ask God to encourage other Christians suffering for Christ’s sake in Eritrean prisons.

Every thing is for good

Dear Abigia, I am sorry to hear this treat on own brothers in Eritrea but I belive God has his own plan .the only thing we should do is pray for christian in Eritrea.I will pray on this topic too.

GOD BLESS

Thank you abigya for sharing this.

It is a scary thing to be locked in a container like these. VERY SCARY! They are sealed and dark, freezing in winter and sweltering in summer.... but so hard and lifeless, boxes of hard metal, with no way out, no windows... just darkness.... no-on should ever be locked into one of these cruel cells... and for our beloved brothers and sisters who must endure such inhumane treatment... to know who locks them in .. to be enemies who wish to destroy your life... it is a most scary thing to have to be put through.....

BUT, our brothers and sisters have been placed in these death cells BECAUSE they know Jesus....

So, let us not just stop with reading this report, but let us pray most earnestly for our brothers and our sisters, that the love and faith they have been imprisoned for will grow stronger and that they will rejoice in their suffering for Christ and give testimony for all creation to know... that Jesus Christ is King and Lord and the giver and sustaner of life, both now and for eternity, that His name be praised forever...

and let us pray that the wrong doers will have pity and mrercy and show compasssion to our family in Eritrea, and furthermore that revival would break out across the land and goodness will be restored to these people beloved of God....

yes in Jesus name let us pray.... amen

Bless you abigya ><>

Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:
Psalm 9:13

Make thy petiton deep (Isaiah 7:11)

Abigya, this is indeed a terrifying report on the plight of our dear brothers and sisters in Eritrea

And in agreement with Br.Bear active prayer support is needed. How easy it is in the comfort of our western society, to overlook the souls who are being tortured for Him.

Make thy petition deep.... Let's pray relentlessly for a miracle in these troubled lands....the God of biblical miracles is just as powerful today.

I stand in prayer with you, and pray that the Lord will convict me to pray more and more.

God bless you

Julia
