Hi all.
I've looked online using many resources such as Youtube, however I'm curious to get opinions on what works best for you.
I finished reading the bible for the first time in April 2023. I occasionally switch back and forth between two different study bibles I own, however, I am mostly re-reading the entire bible from the beginning to end from the NLT Illustrated bible, including reading the study notes for context.
What daily practices do you enjoy or find useful when studying the bible?
I did occasionally attend a study bible at my church on Friday nights, however, although I really like this church, it is very far from where I live, as well as my work schedule coming up I won't have any time to attend bible study.
The link below is the only Youtube video I found where their study bible methods I resonate with. Starts around 2:40 mark/timecode.
I am typically not a fan of reading plans, however, the reading plans in the NIV Quest Study Bible I may attempt. What do people think of reading study plans?
My goal is to strengthen my relationship with God and work on my faults. I've prayed multiple times, including every time I use a study bible for spiritual guidance. Eventually I want to work on memorizing certain verses, but I think it's too soon for me in my spiritual walk.
Should I study scripture based on certain themes and topics related to one's faults so one can try to change one self to be a better person and more Godly? Or am I approaching this wrong?
Is my current study plan of re-reading the entire bible from start to finish, including reading the study notes, a good method for study?
I know studying the bible there is not one correct method. My current method, I have days where the notes do nothing for me, while other days the notes help me in providing wisdom to live everyday life, as well as related to what is going on with me.
I thank everyone in advance for whatever input they wish to provide.
