Summer Solstice

I'm not affiliated with the Lutheran denomination, so I bring this topic up
with a motivation to learn. In my area (predominantly Lutheran) I saw
a church is 'celebrating the Summer Solstice' today, with a service followed
by a gathering that involves secular music. I've always thought the
celebrating of 'solstices' to be satanic in origin, and really have misgivings
about this church's celebrations.

Would someone with knowledge care to explain this? (I've done a bit of
my own research online... but not finding much...)

God created the sun, the moon, and the stars that give us days and seasons. There is nothing inherently pagan about such.

That being said, all the holidays that surround the various solstices and equinoxes are vary pagan in origin. The celebration of Winter solstice, which is historically pagan, somehow morphed into the celebration of Christs birth. Celebration of the spring Equinox, named after the goddess Eastre merged at some point with Passover/the resurrection of our Lord.

It's no surprise that someone would try to do the same with summer solstice.

Mixing the holy with the profane, trying to be more like the world to reach the world never works.

I see no reason to celebrate the summer solstice as anything more than another day of the year. I don't worship the sun, I worship the Son.

Interesting... the meaning of 'Babylon' is 'confusion by mixture'. Not sure this is
what Luther had in mind back in his day. This 'mixed confusion' is becoming so
prevalent today. In my area, Lutheran churches have labyrinths, and offer yoga.
(Not all, but it only takes a few to cause huge damage.) Thank you for responding.
