"Take heed lest you fall."

What lessons can be learned from the tragic fate of the Titanic? Perhaps many, but most certainly a good lesson to be learned is to "Take heed lest you fall." Or to put it another way, heed the warnings in your life. You ignore them to your own peril. It is well documented that the crew of the Titanic had more than enough warnings about icebergs and heavy ice flow in their projected course. Staff at all levels both ignored and scoffed at these warnings. Some didn't believe the danger. Others knew they were impervious to such dangers. And some just assumed someone else would see to the problem. In all reality the Titanic, which "Not even God could sink", was doomed for destruction long before it ever hit that fatal iceberg. Pride pushed the captain faster and farther than was prudent. Over-confidence convinced the crew to set sail with only half as many lifeboat seats as passengers. And it was pure foolishness that led them to their watery grave. In the Bible, Paul warned Christians to "Not give the devil a foothold."

Let me exhort you to take heed! Many a smooth-sailing believer has been shipwrecked by the wiles of the devil. Don't give him even the smallest place in your life. He will never be satisfied until he has completely sabotaged your vessel. Rather, as per 1st Corinthians 15:58, "Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord." The best way to ensure you have given no place for the devil in your life is to give it all in service to Christ. Freely you have received, so freely give. Your life only has value as you place it in the Master's hand. Give God your all and leave no room for sin. Oh yeah, keep watch, listen to His Voice, and heed the warnings. They may save you from shipwreck. God be with you all...

Good Post

I recall Paul writing to Timothy and exhorting him to "take heed to thyself for in so doing thou wilt save thyself and all those with thee"..

Many depend upon us as we follow Jesus. People look to us as examples to emulate, although they themselves may not be Christian. "Take heed to thyself" No room for carelessness as we follow Him "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven"
