Jesus gave us a warning in Mark 4:24-25 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. 25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. So, what you hear is of vital importance and one of the main reasons is that faith comes by hearing (Rom.10:17). So, what you hear is shaping your believing and we all act and speak according to what we believe. And that's great if you are believing the right things. Notice, the warning God gives us in Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. And one of the main ways you do that is watch what you hear. For Romans 10:8 says, But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach. What you speak you hear and what you hear is what goes into your heart. That's how people spread hate, they speak words of hate and that hate is planted in the hearts of others. And the more you hear the more it grows, that's how people spread fear. Notice, in Mark 4:14 and Luke 8:11 Jesus said, Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. And we know that every seed produces after it's kind. So, don't expect to walk in faith if all you hear is words of fear and doubt.
Notice, in 1Corinthians 3:6,7 Paul calls hearing planting and watering and what is planted and watered grows that's why you guard your heart with all diligence because seed is being planted all day every day. And if you are not paying attention and screening what is going in you can find yourself walking in a fear and wondering where it came from. Where it came from is hearing words of fear. What you hear can have a powerful affect on your body, especially in times of sickness. In Proverbs 15:30 it says, The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat. That's good news, but let's see that same verse in other translations-AMPC The light in the eyes [of him whose heart is joyful] rejoices the hearts of others, and good news nourishes the bones. EHV A twinkle in the eyes delights the heart, and good news gives health to the bones. I like that one especially because that goes along with Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. And that word health is translated as medicine, remedy, healing, and cure.
You mean to tell me a person can get healed by hearing the word, yes. Look at Acts 14:7-10 And there they preached the gospel. 8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked: 9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, 10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. The very foundation of that mans healing was the words he heard. Ok, let's see that very same thing in this instance Mark 5:25-34 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, 26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. 29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? 31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. 33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. 34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Notice, in this instance she tried the doctors and their medicines and was still getting worse, but what was the first thing that turned that condition around, when she heard of Jesus in verse 27. Didn't I say that what you hear shapes your believing and we act and speak according to what we believe. That was the very foundation of what happened here. The Bible says in the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established. I've showed you two let me show you one more just to drive the point home. Luke 7:1-10 Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: 5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. 6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick. Again, what that man heard was the very foundation of what turned that situation around. And what you hear will be the foundation and start of what will turn your situation around so please take heed what you hear.
It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess that Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
