Texas Imprisons Christian for “Murder”

Mark Hanson

In Corpus Christi in the US state of Texas a Christian lady was imprisoned for life following the death of her adopted son.
It was two years ago that a Texan court found her guilty of murder, and
she continues to reside in a Texan prison.
Hannah Overton was convicted during a court case in which the prosecution used her Christian beliefs as a basis to support their assertions that she was religiously unstable, and poisoned her son with a concoction of spices.
Yet the defence said that because her son had multiple problems, including a disorder that left him with a veracious appetite, even after a full meal, Hannah had got into the practice of giving him a season tonic, which had the effect of calming his agitation. His cravings had often led him to binge on food, even feeding on the contents of the rubbish bin.
He was rushed to the hospital when Hannah realised something was amiss, where the emergency staff gave him saline. The eventual cause of death was salt-poisoning.
The full story may well be far deeper, yet it is of serious concern that a mother has been convicted with her Christian faith being a prosecution argument.
