It is more of a public witness when baptized by some one else's as the first step in being a disciple of Jesus Christ after having been saved by Him by believing in Him.
No. What you say is not scripture, it is teachings from someone in a denomination you chose.
There were many people who were baptized in the Bible and they didn't do it in front of anyone.
Think of the eunuch and the jailer and Cornelius.
But the gospel is not about repenting from all sins to save yourself
It sounds as if you read a lot of commentaries from men or a lot of books and articles from leaders of denominations.
We are to prove our beliefs by the scriptures.
You go against any thought or action to get saved.
You should only go by the scriptures.
We save ourselves by believing we have to obey Jesus.
Acts 2:40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
One would think you see a scripture like that, it would make you never again speak against obeying Jesus to get saved.
but the gospel is about Jesus Christ in testifying of Him so when sinners believe in him, they are saved as Jesus said in John 3:15-16 as it is those who do not believe that are already condemned per John 3:18
We have to believe that we have to obey him.
Do you really want to keep to what you were taught by men that we only have to believe and it means do nothing else?
We are told many times by Jesus that believing alone does not bless and does not make one a disciple and family member and friend.
We are told that faith alone is dead.
So when Jesus says to believe, why do you cut off all the other times Jesus says to obey?
We have to believe everything he says.
We have to believe that we don't just go straight to God and believe and obey Him, but now we have to believe that we have to go straight to Jesus to believe and obey to get to the Father.
As for your scripture about repenting of sins, they cannot null & void Jesus words for how we are saved in John 3:15-16 and so you are applying those verses wrong when they can only apply to discipleship & not salvation
There is no such thing as Jesus speaking to Jews and they not know they have to obey. Maybe Gentiles would get confused by that by Paul later, but no such thing as Jesus telling Jews to believe in him meaning only believe and not obey him.
because you would never get the Holy Spirit since per your beliefs, you still have to obey in order & repent from all sins daily in order to get the Holy Spirit.
I was saved in a powerful way when I was saved, and it wouldn't have happened that way if I didn't obey and repent of my sins.
So you can't persuade me with that tripe about my not being saved for obeying.
No such thing as Jesus keeping someone condemned if they believe and obey him.
The very first moment you had believed in Jesus Christ, you were saved.
No I wasn't.
And what can a child do but trust Him at His word that by believing in Him is how we are saved.
We have to be obedient, as little children obey their parents.
You say not obey only trust, but that is not in the scriptures that claim children don't obey their parents.
This is proof that you know you cannot have had repented from all sins because after you had been saved, you realize other sins that you needed to repent of.
No such thing as your proof.
If you don't know what your sins are, then you don't even know that you are a sinner.
What you are saying is against what Jesus says.
Nowhere in Acts does the presentation of the gospel goes down a list of sins for sinners to know what sins are for them to repent from all those sins before coming to & believing in Jesus Christ.
People know what sins are. If they don't, then they need to look in the scriptures.
It does not matter what the intents of your heart was, because there are some sins that a saved believer may not be aware of and may never became aware of even unto death.
That person better find out. That is another reason you shouldn't teach what you do, for the scriptures say to study and find out what pleases the Lord, and to add to your faith knowledge.
Therefore we are saved by simply believing in Jesus Christ and His disciples are to teach new believers His commandments that they are to look to Him for help in doing in living that life of repentance because there is no other way to live that reconciled relationship with God except thru Jesus Christ by faith in Him in being our Good Shepherd and NOT by resorting to our own will power nor the will of the religious flesh as if repenting from all sins is how we are born of God.
Oh so after one is saved you think they should know what their sins are. Maybe then they don't want to give something up. What you are saying goes against Jesus who says that the prostitutes and tax collectors are entering ahead because they do what God wants.
You don't get to enter first, GodB4Us, if you don't do what God wants.
Read how in the passage they were both sons, but which one entered? The one who DID what they father said to do.
Believe what Jesus says and not what some teacher you choose taught you.
Matthew 21:31
“Which of the two did what his father wanted?” “The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them,
“Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
That is about God saving someone He accepts.
God accepts those who obey Him.
Acts 10:35 but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.
Psalm 50:23 Whoever sacrifices a thank offering honors Me, and
whoever orders his conduct, I will show him the salvation of God."
Acts 20:21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in
repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.
Acts 26:20 First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should
repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.
John 14:21
The person who has my commandments and obeys them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved bymy Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him."
Acts 5:32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to
those who obey him."
1 John 3:24
Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them.
