Do any of you celebrate the Sabbath, saying it’s the fourth commandment? Do you keep it holy?........... what I do is set apart 24 hours a week from 5pm on Saturday to 5 pm on Sunday. When I do this I shut of all electronics of anything that is entertaining. This way I can spent time alone with Jesus to show just how much I love him.

Old Testament = Law
New Testament = Grace

Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

There is nothing wrong of course with spending time with GOD, but that can be any day, any time.

We do not honour the Sabbath as the Jews done years ago.
When some Christians call the Sunday the sabbath they are wrong.

just as a matter of interest, why is it wrong for Christians to refer to Sunday as the Sabboth?
The commandment calls it the Sabboth Day, has it to do with being Saturday?
thank you

The sabboth had a different purpose.Under grace we are not bound to holy certain days above another.
We worship God every day and not just on the sabboth. As paul said "our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost or Spirit.
For example if you had a flat tire on your car on the sabboth, there would be nothing wrong with changing your tire.

Guess in times gone by they would have left their car if they had one.

I understand fully, and thank you,
we can make so many 'laws' ourselves for Sunday, like my Mum refused to iron my Dad's shirt one Sunday for church so he had to do it himself, thing was Mum didn't even go to church.

We can bind ourselves up in tradition so much, if we succome to it.
we have been freed by the precious blood of our Saviour, not to be bound in religion, and yes we worship Him 7 days a week not only on Sunday.

Then why did Jesus Keep the Sabbath rossj.anderson even though He lived during New Testament times?

"For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks." Romans 14:2-6 (NKJV)

I understand this to mean that we should be careful not to condemn someone who decides to keep the Jewish Sabbath, nor should we condemn one who does not keep the Jewish Sabbath, if both are fully convinced that they're doing it for the Lord.

And Jesus kept the Sabbath because He was Jewish in His humanity. Jews keep the
4th commandment Sabbath.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Lets not forget, the work Jesus did on the sabbath.

Luke 13:10-12
10And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
11And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
12And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity

John 9:14
14Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man's eyes was a Sabbath

Nothing is wrong with keeping the sabbath ( I think its cool if you do ) but it's not punishable if you dont. I give God everyday. .

Romans 8:2 (KJV)
2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Galatians 2:21
21I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing

Love matters most.

Mark 12:28-31: “One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the discussion. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, ‘Of all the commandments, which is the most important?’ Jesus replied, ‘The most important commandment is this: “Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.” The second is equally important: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” No other commandment is greater than these."’”

You will notice that Jesus broke all the rules and the traditions of sabbath and other rules.
He healed on the sabbath. He touched the leapers..
If Jesus come in human flash to our towns He would not enter many of our churches.
Jesus where the need was.
He mingled with sinners. He would goto the ball parks.Maybe He would sit town with people in a bar.

Maybe He would sit town with people in a bar.

really can't see that being W.W.J.D.
not in the bars of today, yes He would mix with sinners but not in that loud music, people getting drunk, dancing atmosphere, do you really think they would want Him there anyway?
He wouldn't be where he's not wanted, as he doesn't force himself.

sorry but really just couldn't forsee that, just my opinion.

He may have broke the sabbath but he also kept it...

Anyway, I give God my everyday as well. But I also like to have 24 hours a week set aside purely to focused on Him.

We need to look at it as one of the Ten Commandments... Let me ask you is God your only God and is He #1 in your life? (1 & 2 commandment)
and so on...

Let me try and make a small efficient post, so that everyone understands:

Chad was correct with his post, but I'll expand.

Matthew 7:1-2
1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

Luke 6:37
“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Romans 14:1-12
The Law of Liberty
1 Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. 2 For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. 3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. 4 Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written:

“ As I live, says the LORD,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”

12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.

The Bible will speak to your heart much better than my words could ever do. If I choose to drink Coca Cola and I dislike water, let no man judge me. If I choose to have my Sabbath on a Wednesday, or never, let no man judge me.

Jesus is the only Judge.

God bless
Much love
Faithful Son

the sabbath

When some Christians call the Sunday the sabbath they are wrong.

Let us as Christians not argue on details but concentrate on the essence .Jesus Himself had some disputes with the jewish leaders, the so called champions of laws on observation of Sabbath. He was accused of breaking rules. Finally He said that Sabbath was for man and man was not for sabath. So that is it. Let there be observance of sabath within us everyday..Let us leave aside controversies over which day to be observed as sabath etc. I dont think God is worried about such minute details when our hearts are lifted up to Him.

Jesus is Lord over all, and truly Lord of my life.

I am not concerned which day is held as the Sabboth Day, I was quite taken aback when told that Sunday was not the Sabboth Day, I think I assumed Sabboth meant Sunday, but obviously it must mean Saturday.
Not knowing Jewish I was ignorant, but I have heard Pastor's call Sunday the Sabboth, so suppose this is were I got the thought from.

As long as we worship our Lord I'm sure He is pleased as the many who don't bid him time of day even.

I wouldn't even think of starting any judging on this topic on any topic come to that.

The question was asked"is the Lord # one in my life?I trust that true in my life.
In 2 Corinthians 13:5-6 we are told to examine ourselves to see weather in be in the faith or not.

surely the Lord Jesus won't see us as 'wrong' in worshipping Him no matter what day it is on.
some Jews still have a veil on regarding the Lord Jesus, they cannot see He is their Messiah also, I pray for these dear people, still awaiting their Messiah to come, tis true when it is said that some haven't heard of the second coming but neither do they know of the first.

I have known the Messianic Jews to try and open the eyes of some of their people. Some have but still some haven't.
But we serve a great God, who is able.

I agree sister Maureen, like I posted above from Romans, God does not mind which day we worship on.

I understand brother Ross's comment however, it's technically incorrect to say the Sabbath is Sunday, but it should not be a matter of debate however.

God bless you both.

I feel the Jewish people dear to my own heart also, how it must have broken the Saviour's.

I heard Helen Shapiro's Testimony when she came to a church here in Belfast, as she is a Jewess.
here's just a minuet clip from it:-

'The shopkeeper finally came over to me and asked, "May I help you?" "Yes." I replied, "I'd like an Old Testament, please." "How Old?" he asked. How embarrassed I felt! I realised my mistake: you don't go into a Jewish shop and ask for an Old Testament. There is no such thing as an Old Testament because there is no such thing as a New Testament. "You know what I mean!" I said. Of course he did. He reached up to a top shelf and brought down a book. "This is what you're looking for," he said.
It was a copy of the Tenach, The Holy Scriptures. I got it home and compared it with the Old Testament in my other Bible from W.H. Smiths - and it was the same. I was so relieved. I was hoping it would be so.
I continued reading the New Testament. By the time I had read all four Gospels, I knew that Jesus was the fulfilment of all the Messianic prophecies. Jesus was and is the Messiah!'

Lovely, just lovely.
I have her full testimony, does your heart good to hear someone Jewish realize who Jesus really is.
sorry this has taken me way of track.

Thank you for your kind words F.S. much appreciated.
