Over the past 200 years has been an influx of self-appointed ministers, prophets, healers, evangelists and church pastors, who model themselves and their ministries as miniature papacies, with one man at the top.

Martin Luther famously said " "I am more afraid of my own heart than of the pope and all his cardinals. I have within me the great pope, Self."

It is one thing to know God but it is another thing to know His Ways, and His way is one word: Team Work

There should be a few (not one) who accept responsibility for work and they treat each other with mutuality and respect, as fellow brethren.

Genuine new testament ministry is not about one-man shows or superstars, but about team-work.

If we realize this truth we can immediately recognize every false denomination, sect, cult and ministry around. If there's one man at the top, we know it's not of God.

Paul shared the work with Barnabas, Phoebe, Clement, Priscilla, Aquilla and others. The only time when Paul worked alone was when the others left him or he was physically incapable of being with others! (2 Tim 4:16).

Jesus sent out his disciples two by two.

One man shows cause people to focus on one man instead of Christ.

Working as a team its harder to take all the credit, and take all the blame. When one falls the other can pick him up. When one rises with pride the other can bring him down.

Some churches and ministries and even whole revivals have failed when the one man at the top has a crisis. A genuine move of God does not depend upon one man alone.

God never appointed one priest or pastor as head over a church but a few (Acts 14:23, Titus 1:5)

As for the show, the apostles were not showy people. Paul's preaching was at times long and boring:

Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.

Acts 20:9 Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead.

The one man show must keep himself at the top of the popularity chain through entertainment and stimulation of the flesh. The new testament minister does not.
