I have been battling bipolar disorder 1 since I was 6 y.o. I love God with all of my heart, all of my soul. But when an episode occurs I can't control myself. It is like being trapped in a horror movie. My mind races so fast I cannot talk to Jesus or hear him calling to me. The worst part is that I am aware but totally helpless. I want to fight it but the meds just don't work sometimes.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I was wondering if when you pray, you could maybe ask him to help those of us with mental illness when we can't cry for help ourselves. thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless.

Do you have any support from other Christians who understand the nature of bipolar. I've suffered from mental illness myself so I know how important it is to have the right support and strategy in place to beat these things.

The name you have used mindonfire does that describe in anyway the feelings you have when you have a episode. If it does I would suggest you change it, for something more positive, perhaps something you aspire to be when you are well.

Most people who suffer long term illness see their illness as part of their identity. For example a person with epilepsy will see themselves as an epileptic, that is just so wrong. They are a person who has a disease called epilepsy. It is so important to make a division between yourself and the illness because this is way God deals with such things. He sends His Word into your life and it acts like a sword to cut the illness off of you and set you free.

When you became a Christian you became an entirely new person on the inside in your spirit. Your spirit was regenerated by the Holy Spirit within you and is always stable. So you now have to learn to live out of your born again spirit and bring your mind, emotions and body under the dominion and rule of the Kingdom of God.

Romans 14:17 says, for the kingdom of God is ... righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. You always have righteousness, peace and joy in the Hoy Spirit on the inside of you no matter what your emotions and body is telling you. But you have to renew your mind with the Word of God (Romans 12:2) to release the life you have in the Holy Spirit into your soul, body.

I noticed in your public profile you did'nt seem to have a Bible no worries, I suppose you can always use an online Bible.

You might find something helpful at this sight FICM,org

God bless you, I'll remember you in my prayers.

Mindonfire,

I have a good Christian friend, a professional counselor, who suffers from bi-polar disorder and I have some knowledge of what he has suffered these last couple of years.

You say you were diagnosed as bi-polar at the age of six. How old are you now? Are you consistent with taking your medication(s) in the prescribed dosage at the prescribed times? How long has it been since your medication(s) was updated? Are you seeing a psychiatrist regularly and often?

My friend had his medications updated last year and he has been faithful in taking them in the prescribed dosages at the prescribed times. I see my friend pretty regularly and he is doing well.

God will heal you, but He wants your cooperation in the process.
