Galatians 4:29
But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
Many believe the coming persecution against Christians comes only from those of the secular world. But history and scripture show us this is not always the case.
Look to the example of who was persecuting and killing Christ and many of the early Christ followers.
It was those who considered themselves to be of the mainstream religious order.
There are many who call themselves Christian who are still in the flesh, just as there was Jews who were still in the flesh, who also persecuted and killed the children who were born of the Spirit.
Psalm 55:12-14
12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.”
Psalm 41:9
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
Zechariah 13:6
