Everyone wakes up tomorrow (Monday) morning to find out that everyone over the age of 30 has vanished; not dead, just gone. Some would be scrambling to get their lives back together throughout the week and some may not notice too much of a difference; but what happens on Sunday morning?
The main point of this scenario is to think about the roles that twenty-somethings and younger play in the church now, and how such predicament would change the actions of young church goers. I know that in some churches this would not be a problem. I know that there are pastors, ministers, deacons, missionaries and the like who are under the age of thirty, but I also am aware that there are several churches who if everyone over 45 left a 45 member church it would leave 2 teenagers and a few kids because of the lack of attendance by people in between these age groups.
This is something that I have been thinking about for at least one year, only in the first model I said that everyone over 40 was gone. In this model it seemed like more could work out for my home church. But when the age was reduced to over 30 it was alarming. I say this because I might be the only one with access to a key to the church in my local assembly who is under the age of 30, because my father has a key and I live at home. There are two other people who may have access because of their parents. this is not even considering any form of ministry yet.
What do you guys think?
