“The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
the plans of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
The Lord looks down from heaven;
he sees all the children of man;
from where he sits enthroned he looks out
on all the inhabitants of the earth,
he who fashions the hearts of them all
and observes all their deeds.
The king is not saved by his great army;
a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
The war horse is a false hope for salvation,
and by its great might it cannot rescue.” (Psalms 33:10-17 ESV)
So many people in this world are looking to prophets, preachers, priests, evangelists, presidents, kings, queens, psychiatrists, doctors, armies, or whomever to solve all their problems for them, or to rescue them from what ails them, or to be their “savior” who solves all the world’s problems. Now some humans may give us some helpful counsel, but we still have to put the good counsel into practice. But they are human, too. They may not have it “all together,” either. So no human is our hope for what ails us, in reality.
But it isn’t just that they are human, too, but a lot of the people that other people are looking to for their hope and “salvation” are not who they proclaim to be. They are liars and manipulators, and people who take advantage of others and their trust. They are con artists and those who put on a show of righteousness while inwardly they are ferocious wolves out to devour whomever they may. Some of them, thus, are antichrist, and they do not have our good at heart, and in reality they plan to destroy us, instead.
Now does the Lord allow evil people to do evil? Yes, or evil could not exist. God is not the author of evil, but he even uses evil people sometimes to bring judgment on his people who have deserted him and who have gone astray, and in order to discipline them in order to bring them back to purity of devotion and obedience to the Lord (example, the book of Habakkuk). And the Lord is going to allow “the beast”, “the antichrist,” to conquer the people of this world and to persecute Christians, or this could not happen.
But even if he allows evil people to do evil, and even if he uses evil people and nations and/or entities as a tool of judgment on his wayward people, they cannot do what they do unless God allows it (example, book of Job). For our God is absolutely sovereign over all that he has created, and nothing and no one trumps God and his plans and his purposes for our lives. For it is the counsel of the Lord which will stand, not the counsel of the nations. If the Lord does not allow it for his purposes, it cannot happen, not at all.
So, when the world goes crazy, which it is, and which it will, it isn’t that God is asleep or that he doesn’t notice, or that he has no power to stop what is happening. He has full and the only power to thwart the plans of the peoples and of the nations who defy him by their actions. It is his counsel only which will survive and which will stand forever. And one day all this craziness that is going on in the world will come to a final end and the world as we know it will be no more. Many people will go to hell, but a remnant will be saved.
So blessed are those who make God – Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit – the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – their God. Blessed are we who make God our Lord, i.e. owner and master of our lives, who serve him with our lives in walks of obedience to his commands, and who no longer walk in deliberate and habitual sin against the Lord. We will have salvation from sin and the hope of eternal life with God. All who do not obey God, and who do not forsake their sins, will not have eternal life with God.
So, please make certain you are believing in the right God, and the biblical Jesus Christ, and the truth of the gospel taught by Jesus (in context). For your salvation depends upon you believing and living the truth of God’s gospel message. Don’t put your hope in other humans for your salvation from sin or from what ails us as the nations of this world. No human can save us! No army can save us. No evangelist or president can help us. Only God can rescue us, but we must take his way of escape, not our own.

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.
Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
