"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God [is] with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 NKJV
How would you feel about taking over for a boss who was loved so much that people spent thirty days mourning him after he died? How would you feel about leading an entire industry with a million employees and their dependents into a new country?
That’s what Joshua did and that’s why God told him, “The Lord your God will be with you.” Jesus told His followers the same thing, when He compared His care for them to the care He has for sparrows: “Not one of them is forgotten by God…Don’t be afraid” (Luke 12:6-7 NIV).
King David wrote, “But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation” (Psalm 69:13 NIV). David knew who to go to when he was afraid. So did Joshua and those who followed Jesus.
What is the crux of your courage? Who do you go to when you’re facing circumstances that seem impossible?
Prayer: Lord, help me to live and lead with You at the center of my courage.
