And I saw them as they went up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded God's people and the beloved city. But fire from heaven came down on the attacking armies and consumed them. Revelation 20:9 NLT

What’s the scene that comes to mind when you hear “a fight of biblical proportions”? Godzilla versus King Kong? All the armies of earth pitted against each other? It is probably a fairly equal match between opposing forces, just bigger, right?

The book of Revelation has inspired numerous bestselling books and films that show the final battle between the forces of darkness and God, but the battle itself is anticlimactic. Persuaded by the Antichrist, all the armies of earth show up to attack God’s people; then fire comes down from heaven to consume them. That’s it.

There is no fight. There’s group of people who want to fight, but they are consumed by fire from heaven. The whole thing is completely one-sided.

When it feels like you are caught up in the battle between good and evil, remember how the story ends. Evil gets burned up. God is the Victor who shares His spoils with those who stay true to Him in their hearts. Your situation may not be comfortable or easy, but the rewards for staying true to God will always outweigh the consequences for siding with the forces of evil.

Prayer: God, thank You for fighting for me. No force can threaten You.

You do realize that specific Rev.20:9 event happens a "thousand years" AFTER Lord Jesus' return, right?

There's actually 2 Gog/Magog events in God's Word:

1. Ezekiel 38 & 39 is about the final battle for this present world we are in now, on the "day of the Lord", which is the final day of this present world, and is the day when Lord Jesus returns. Ezekiel 38 gives a specific nation alignment that will come up against Israel on the last day of this world, and hailstones and fire will rain down upon that great army coming out of the northern quarters. The nations involved in coming against Israel per that one is Russia and its allies of Persia (Iran, Iraq), Libya, Gomer (old Russian satellite countries like Georgia), Ethiopia (which is actually about Sudan and Yemen, as Ethiopia in Ezekiel's day covered most of the lands below Egypt), and Togarmah (which today is modern Turkey, an Islamic nation even though allied with NATO, which I look for it to eventually turn to ally with Russia). That's all. No western nation is involved with Russia in that.

2. The Rev.20 attempt by Satan once he is loosed one final time after Christ's "thousand years" reign with His elect over the unsaved nations. Satan will lead the unsaved who still reject Christ upon the "camp of the saints" to try and destroy it. God will rain fire down from Heaven upon those unsaved and quickly end their attempt. This one is not the Gog/Magog of Ezekiel, simply because these go upon the earth against the "camp of saints" which is already established on earth under Jesus Christ. That camp means Jerusalem where Jesus reigns from during the "thousand years" of Rev.20. Today, Jerusalem in majority still rejects Jesus Christ, so it definitely is not... that same "camp of the saints" of Rev.20.

Dear NoHype,
Yes. Just keep in mind what the devotional is about, and you should be okay with it.

Getting up there in years Brother! :)
I never made it to Vietnam, for which I am glad of. The evac happened 6 months after I joined. I knew some of it through my Brother-in-Law who was Special Forces field grade Capt. (which I am sure you know what that means). Has enough medals to fill a knapsack and doesn't talk about it (experience or medals) since he tried to write a book about his missions in Cambodia (late 60's) and was stopped from publishing it (contradicted the Administration's story at the time.), and shortly thereafter the manuscript disappeared. :( Read most of it, as a babysitter for my niece and nephew, and it did not paint a pretty picture of what happened in the jungle during his two tours. May God have mercy.

Anyway, nice to meet you.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

I do believe they still have some of those birds flying around!!!

I spent most of my time on Bases with Wings, or TAC out in the field, unless I got a Headquarters base like Randolph or Andrews, which were normally more of a pain. :)
Was on a MAC base, with C-5's for a couple of years. Had one of those birds on standby outside my wooden barracks always running in case something broke out in the world, except for 15 minutes for change over. I think that is the reason I've got Tinnitus and have lost most of my hearing! lol

Well nice to meet you brother!

Take care and God bless to you and yours!
