And I saw them as they went up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded God's people and the beloved city. But fire from heaven came down on the attacking armies and consumed them. Revelation 20:9 NLT
What’s the scene that comes to mind when you hear “a fight of biblical proportions”? Godzilla versus King Kong? All the armies of earth pitted against each other? It is probably a fairly equal match between opposing forces, just bigger, right?
The book of Revelation has inspired numerous bestselling books and films that show the final battle between the forces of darkness and God, but the battle itself is anticlimactic. Persuaded by the Antichrist, all the armies of earth show up to attack God’s people; then fire comes down from heaven to consume them. That’s it.
There is no fight. There’s group of people who want to fight, but they are consumed by fire from heaven. The whole thing is completely one-sided.
When it feels like you are caught up in the battle between good and evil, remember how the story ends. Evil gets burned up. God is the Victor who shares His spoils with those who stay true to Him in their hearts. Your situation may not be comfortable or easy, but the rewards for staying true to God will always outweigh the consequences for siding with the forces of evil.
Prayer: God, thank You for fighting for me. No force can threaten You.
