The Gift of Repentance

Man is dead in sin
not able to turn fromit
held in satin's captivity
chained in sin unable to quit

But God has a gift
to meet man's urgent quest
to rid himself of his sin
so God invites as His guest

So the guest receives this gift
and so unwraps it
God has given this present
the guest has what is His

But what is the gift?
man can now turn
and repent from his sin
knowing eternally no need to burn

God's gift of repentance
gives man hope of salvation
able to live in holiness
be part of God's holy nation

Now able to turn
to truly repent
live a God honouring life
sin's curtain is now rent

AUTHOR NOTES:
God calls all people to repent of their sins and bear fruit in keeping with repentance, so God's holy spirit must be living within a person to regenerate them to eternal life so that they will have spiritual desire to leave their life of sin to live a life of righteousness to God's glory. So we need the gift of repentance so to turn from sin and live holy honouring life's.
