The Importance of Prayer
All I'm back to remind you of the importance of prayer. Acts 2:42-43 paints a picture of the early church and her devotion to a life of prayer. Paul stresses the priority of prayer to Timothy in 1 Tim 2:1-2. James 5:15-16 speaks of the power of prayer. The permanence of prayer is covered in 1 Thess 5:15-18, where Paul commands us to, "Pray without ceasing." And finally, in Phil 4:6-7 we are told the result of prayer. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
By chance, is God calling you to a deeper walk of prayer? Have you heard Him ask you to be a watchman on the wall? Listen to the pain in the Lord's voice as he cries out in the Book of Ezekiel. "I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one." Is this happening today? Let's hope and pray not! In Scripture we see the prayer warriors, true watchmen, praying to God on behalf of themselves, their families, and their people. Because of their faith-filled prayers they were able to: Delay Wrath; Invoke Mercy; Avert Disaster; Stop Judgment; and even Change their Future. Listen to God's heart from 2 Chronicles 7:13-15, "If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land." God be with you always...
