In the Israel temple there was a Menorah who was lit.
The Hanukkah holiday which is been celebrated this days is a holiday very connected to this Menorah.

In the first Temple during Antiochus Epiphanes days the temple has been
violated by greek gods idols and gold was stolen and oil cans were ruined. When the Maccabbis beat Antiochus army they came to the temple to cleanse it and purify it and get everything arranged again.

they saw that only one small can of oil left and they thought The Menorah light will keep only 1 day.. but to their surprise the oil burned for 8 days. (that's why the miniatures Menorahs or in hebrew:Hanukia (and in the form of many: Hanukiot) has 8 places for candles (and one extra to the head candle which is lit all the time first then the other candles).

Those who still have catholic bibles have the book of maccabbes so if ur intersted you can read the story there.

During romans time after Jesus time (still during the last days of 2nd temple) it was ruined and the romans stole the Menorah and burned it to the gates of roma. (you can still see it there).

now after something like 2000 thousand years in the last 7 years in Israel a new Menorah was built! through research of old writings about the Menorah and how it was built and old drawings of it they finished.

Now in the afternoon of the other day it was put infront of the wailing wall.

Many people hope that soon they could this Menroah in the enxt temple. (it cannot be built unless god's command it. but this days probably almost none belive to a guy who claim to hear god as it seems).

The Menorah is made from 24 karat gold and its value measured around 3 million dollars.
