The Law A Shadow Of The Real Thing

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was a schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we may be justified by faith.

Luke 24:These are the words I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms concerning me.

We cannot be justified by our works, Cain attempted that and failed, yet Abel believed the sacrifice pointed to the Messiah to come and was justified by his faith.

The Law, the Prophets and the Psalms all point to Jesus Christ the Messiah, the one who would redeem His people. Therefore the law was only a shadow of the real thing but not the reality itself Hebrews10:1-5

No one can bear fruit by observing the law. Have you ever attemped to eat the fruit off the shadow of a fruit tree? No, its impossible, but the shadow, when followed, leads to the tree where one can eat to the hearts content. Those who have repented know that they eat from the tree of life as well as from those with good fruit to offer. Genesis 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The tree of life is Jesus Christ and the tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food are us who are in Christ and who have the Word of God entrusted to us 1 Corinthians 4:1-3.

We must expound the Word of God from the Old Testament and bring people to the cross (the four Gospels) and thereafter they enter into a relationship with God again, have the empowerment of the Holy Ghost and grow in the knowledge of Him who purchased us with His own Blood (the New Testament). The New Testament came in once Jesus was crucified because the New Covenant was made possible in His Blood shed for the many.

Interestingly, we must, through the Word of God, bring people from under the Law into faith in Jesus Christ so that they may be reconciled to God through repentance - not conversion. Jesus said Himself that we did not choose Him but He chose us ......

Ponder on the above and let me know what you think. I have a lot more to add so I will not mind expounding it more for anyone interested.

Regards
Donald
