Jesus Family Tomb: Movie Overview of Lost Jesus Tomb Movie

Have y'all heard about this? It's a movie about these people who discovered a tomb with Jesus, both Mary's and Judas, saying he had a family and all. Isn't it crazy that we can just *know* it's not true because of the Holy spirit?

This is an attempt from Satan to invoke doubt into the mind of those not yet saved. For you cannot scare the saved or shake his foundation
for we Christians have felt and tasted the Glory of God and we stand firm on the Solid Rock of Jesus Christ.

You can't find any bones to a man who didnt leave any behind! lol

Whenever you hear or see things that are Anti Christ.. just know the only people who believe these lies are those who already hate God! And thats a fact you can believe!

---------------------

Behold The Holy Scriptures from the death, resurrection and The Ascension of Jesus Christ

Luke 23:26-56

The Crucifixion

26As they led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. 27A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. 28Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. 29For the time will come when you will say, 'Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!' 30Then
" 'they will say to the mountains, "Fall on us!"
and to the hills, "Cover us!" ' 31For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"

32Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. 33When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

35The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."

36The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar 37and said, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself."

38There was a written notice above him, which read:|sc THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"

40But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."

42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

43Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

Jesus' Death

44It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.

47The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man." 48When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away. 49But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

Jesus' Burial

50Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God. 52Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body. 53Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

55The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.

LUKE 24:1-53 (THE Resurrection and Ascension)

1On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " 8Then they remembered his words.

9When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

On the Road to Emmaus

13Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16but they were kept from recognizing him.

17He asked them, "What are you discussing together as you walk along?"

They stood still, their faces downcast. 18One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, "Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?"

19"What things?" he asked.

"About Jesus of Nazareth," they replied. "He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23but didn't find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see."

25He said to them, "How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?" 27And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

28As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther. 29But they urged him strongly, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them.

30When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"

33They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34and saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon." 35Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

36While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."

37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."

40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?" 42They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43and he took it and ate it in their presence.

44He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."

45Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

The Ascension

50When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.

Yes Sister I had heard about this. I did not realize that they were trying to prove that Lord Jesus had a family.

It's so silly. There are so many events similar to this that is happening lately. God and Jesus are getting a lot of publicity, so to say. I just can't help but feel like the end-times are near.

I feel so strongly that this a time that we should be prepared for anything. For us to be tested. Am I the only one that feels this? Is there anyone else that feels this way too?

Notice the timing? It's almost Easter, a time when many who don't know Jesus but who are seeking Him in their lives will either doubt or receive the truth.

Faith

I sometimes feel that way, but for centuries people in their writings also said that they felt the end was near. You never know my friend, Only He knows.

That is so true! I didn't even realize that. The devil really seeks every opportunity posibile.

CFC - I know what you mean. I have been feeling like that too. I guess just the way people behave and the way society is...it just feels like it's the end of the world.

Anyway....I guess we should prepare! We will be asked questions from non-believers, right?

Blessings to All,

Yes the devil DOES take each and every opportunity to deceive. Look at the movie starring Tom Hanks, the one I can't even be bothered to remember the name of, well that was around Christmas.

Oh Yes! The one about the Da Vinci Code right? It's so silly also! The only thing I have to say about that is... that it was Da Vinci's opinion...why should I think that he is right?

It kind of makes me mad that people are so nieve with these Hollywood movies. Why is it that they will believe what a movie says about God, but when they see the Bible or some other type of proof they completely disregard it? But then I have to understand that they do not know God the way I do...I have to be patient.

Hollywood has always been junk for the most part. Same with the media in general. We all know by now that it it sells, its profit. Most people in this world hate Jesus and could care less about GOD in general. Another portion are hypocrites who call themselves believers, then you have the small portion who are truly sincere believers.

The end is near. The only timing we know about this end is that one day gone by is one day closer to the world passing away and everything in it.

My friend and I were talking about it on the way home today, and she said this, and it's true...it says in the bible that near the end of times, false prophets, people, and teachers will arise and to not believe what you hear. Well, I think it's going to get alot worse, but...we don't know the exact time or hour, for only HE knows. We just need to put our trust in Him and and pray to the Lord that all of our loved ones are saved, and all those who don't know Him come to Him before it's too late.

Completely impossible nonsense

This story will probably sink like a stone. I have had a quick scout around the interweb, and no serious archeologist seems to want to give it the time of day. The only people who are positive about it are the programme makers. Here's a typical newspaper clip

Kloner: A great story, but nonsense

Prof. Amos Kloner oversaw the archeological work at the Talpiot tomb when it was discovered during construction in 1980.

What do you make of the assertion that Jesus and his family were buried there?

It makes a great story for a TV film. But it's completely impossible. It's nonsense. There is no likelihood that Jesus and his relatives had a family tomb. They were a Galilee family with no ties in Jerusalem. The Talpiot tomb belonged to a middle class family from the 1st century CE.

But there is apparently such a confluence of resonant names.

The name "Jesus son of Joseph" has been found on three or four ossuaries. These are common names. There were huge headlines in the 1940s surrounding another Jesus ossuary, cited as the first evidence of Christianity. There was another Jesus tomb. Months later it was dismissed. Give me scientific evidence, and I'll grapple with it. But this is manufactured.
from the Jerusalem post.

And doesn't common sense tell us that the both the Roman and Jewish authorities had a vested interest in finding Jesus' body? The story that Jesus had risen from the dead was a threat to the religious system of the day, and was an embarrassment to the Romans.

If they could have laid hands on Jesus' corpse, they would have snuffed Christianity out instantly. But they didn't.

This is a article about this movie I found in my e-mail today.
THE LOST TOMB OF JESUS

This Sunday the Discovery Channel will debut a made-for-TV documentary titled "The Lost Tomb of Jesus." Filmmakers claim that a tomb in the Talpiot neighborhood of Jerusalem is the final resting place of Jesus of Nazareth and several members of his family. Not only does the documentary seek to undermine the deity of Christ, it attempts to substantiate the Magdalene Heresy made popular by Dan Brown's book The DaVinci Code.

The Talpiot tomb was originally discovered in 1980. It is a large tomb that contained ten ossuaries (an ossuary is a chest that holds skeletal remains). Archaeologists say there is nothing extraordinary about the tomb, but filmmakers believe they have made a discovery that will shake the very foundations of Christianity. They believe the tomb contained the remains of Jesus of Nazareth, as well as his mother Mary, his father Joseph, and other family members. They also speculate that one of the ossuaries found in the tomb contains the remains of Mary Magdalene. According to the filmmakers, their "discovery" supports claims that Jesus and Mary Magdalene where married and may have had children.

A Fraud of Titanic Proportions

The writer, producer, and director of the Discovery Channel documentary is Simcha Jacobovici and its executive producer is James Cameron, the man who brought us the film Titanic. Jacobovici was the driving force behind the documentary, however he is not an archaeologist and his speculations leave many questions unanswered. In fact, most of the scholars who have reviewed his claims - even those who are not Christians - have raised objections to the validity of his assertions. Jacobovici lays out an impressive array of data, including the results of DNA-testing and statistical analysis. However, while Jacobovici does a good job of selling his speculations, he can't actually prove any of them. Scientists and scholars around the world have been quick to point out the many holes in his theory.

When the Talpiot tomb was originally excavated more than 26 years ago, the ossuaries were taken to the Rockefeller Archaeological Museum outside the Old City of Jerusalem. Joe Zias, who was the curator for anthropology and archeology at the museum from 1972 to 1997, personally numbered the Talpiot ossuaries. Zias has criticized on the Discovery Channel documentary saying, "Projects like these make a mockery of the archeological profession." He further stated that the show's producers have "no credibility whatsoever."

What's in a Name?

Of the ten ossuaries found in the tomb, six of them had inscriptions. Although in some cases, the "inscriptions" appear to be little more than crudely scratched names. The names archeologists found carved on ossuaries in the Talpiot tomb were: Jesus son of Joseph, Maria, Mariamene, Matthew, Judas son of Jesus, and Jose (a diminutive of Joseph). Producers of the documentary believe that Mariamene (or Mary) is in fact Mary Magdalene. However there is no evidence directly connecting Mary Magdalene to the Mary in the tomb. Furthermore, scholars are quick to point out that these were all very common names. The name Mary is one of the most common of all ancient Jewish female names. In fact, during the first century, nearly 25 percent of women in Jerusalem, for example, were called Miriam or some derivative of that name. Even the name "Jesus" was a popular name in the first century; it has been discovered in at least 98 other tombs and on 21 other ossuaries.

The Gnostic Gospels

Much like DaVinci Code author Dan Brown, the documentary's producers relied heavily upon the so-called "Gnostic gospels" to support their conjectures concerning Jesus and Mary Magdalene (in particular the Gospel of Phillip). Scholars widely agree that none of the Gnostic gospels contain historically reliable information about the life of Jesus and that all were likely written in the second century or later - in contrast to the contemporaneous eyewitness accounts in the New Testament. The Gnostic gospels are not really "gospels" at all, but rather they are filled with unverifiable claims and were written under false pseudonyms in an attempt to gain legitimacy (i.e. the "Gospel of Philip" was not written by Philip, nor was it even written during his lifetime). These documents emerged during the centuries following the ministries of the Apostles and were universally rejected by the early church. The Gnostic gospels include The Gospel of Judas, The Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of Philip, The Gospel of Mary, The Gospel of Truth, and about four dozen others.

The Ossuary of James

In addition to his other claims, Jacobovici believes that the now-infamous ossuary of James is authentic and that it may have come from the Talpiot tomb. (In 2003, the Israeli Antiquities Authority declared that the inscriptions on the James ossuary were modern forgeries. To this day, the ossuary's province of origin remains unknown. The collector who owned the ossuary has since been convicted of forging various other ancient artifacts.) According to Newsweek, the technique Jacobovici uses to "prove" the match between the James ossuary and the Talpiot tomb is a technology he calls "patina fingerprinting," which was essentially invented for the purposes of the film.

The Truth of the Matter

Amos Kloner is the archaeologist who oversaw the work at the tomb in 1980 and who authored the official report on the dig. He says the burial cave is not extraordinary. "It's a typical Jewish burial cave of a large size. The names on the ossuaries are very common names or derivatives of names. There is no likelihood that Jesus and his relatives had a family tomb. They were a Galilee family with no ties in Jerusalem. The Talpiot tomb belonged to a middle-class family from the first century CE." Recently he told The Jerusalem Post that, "It makes a great story for a TV film. But it's impossible. It's nonsense."

The conjectures presented in "The Lost Tomb of Jesus" are filled with holes. According Amos Kloner's report the tomb was disturbed in ancient times, and vandalized. Some of the biggest questions that remain unanswered relate to this early break-in: who vandalized the cave, when, what did they do there and why? Also, it is highly unlikely that Joseph, who died in Galilee, was buried in Jerusalem (he would have most likely been buried in Nazareth or Bethlehem). The Talipot tomb and ossuaries also clearly belonged to a rich family. Why would Jesus' family have a tomb outside of Jerusalem if they were from Nazareth? Why would they have a tomb if they were poor? More importantly, there is no DNA evidence to suggest that the remains in the Talipot tomb are that of the historical Jesus of Nazareth. There is also no historical evidence that Jesus was ever married or had a child. Nor can the filmmakers refute historical evidence of Jesus' resurrection. Even the Roman centurions who were given the task of guarding the Jesus' tomb acknowledged that it was empty. After which, Jesus appeared in the flesh before hundreds of witnesses.

Ben Witherington, a professor at Asbury Theological Seminary, commented on the documentary saying, "Unfortunately, this is a story full of holes, conjectures and problems. It will make good TV and involves a bad critical reading of history. Basically, this is old news with a new interpretation. We have known about this tomb since it was discovered in 1980. There are all sorts of reasons to see this as much ado about nothing."

While the Discovery Channel documentary may not be true, it does indeed make for good television. Even more unfortunate, it makes for convincing television. No doubt many who see it will be deceived. In times like these, when we find ourselves amidst an ever-increasing barrage of conflicting information, it is important to rely on God's Word for guidance and to remember that grace and truth come by Jesus Christ.

Amen! WingedGrace I totally agreed with you when you said " how can their be bones When Jesus didn't leave any behind" Was talking about it with my mom and said the same thing to her.

Its very true what the Bible says about satan in 1st Peter chapter 5 verse 8
" Be sober be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as roaring lion, walkth about about, seeking whom he may devour."

We just have to pray that those who aren't saved somehow see the truth about all the lies that have been, are being and will be told about our Lord and savior and come to know Jesus as we all do. That they come to know God's truth which is Jesus came to earth in the form of a man yet was humble
and never boasted.......was blameless and sinless yet took the punishment for our sins and then died for our salvation so we may have a place with Him in heaven. Then He rose again and is now at the right hand of God in heaven sitting on his throne.

There are no bones because my Savior Rose again and waits for me in heaven.

Praise Our Lord for his mercy and love that flows upon us and fills us to over flowing!

It's being replayed this Saturday on VisionTV (a multicultural, multi-faith channel in Canada). I want to watch it just to see what they have to say, not because I necessarily believe in what they're saying.

i am watching this right this moment on VisionTV Channel 70 here in British Columbia Canada

If you do not believe what they say and know they are liars, why bother wasting your time on fruitless things? Instead, I would read the Bible or pray for these poor lost souls (not easy, I know and admit). Keep your eyes on Jesus, not these little wolves claiming His lost bones or such non-sense.

I guess curiosity burns within us. I encourage anyone to not waste your time on such fruitless documentaries and claims. Its for your sake.

GOD bless.

Chad,

I understand what you are saying...but...what about the other part of the picture?

Should we ignore the outside world? Personally for me, God has put a passion in my heart to bring people to His Kingdom. In doing so, I know that I cannot do it blindly. I do have to read the word, but I also have to understand their questions/arguments.

I watched that documentary, not because of curiosity, but so I can gain knowledge on what these people are saying about my Lord and Savior. Again, I do understand from your point of view. However, from my point of view, I think to effectively reach the people who do not know about Christ, we have to understand where they are coming from.

Ecclesiastes 7:25
So I turned my mind to understand, to investigate and to search out wisdom and the scheme of things and to understand the stupidity of wickedness and the madness of folly.

2 Corinthians 2:11
in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

This is what God has put on my heart however. Everyone is created differently. If we are all eyes, then we cannot function as a body! I do not intent to hurt, or put down anyone's beliefs --- I am just sharing my own.

Blessings,

Good points sister. My view was based on the fact that these people are the kinds that do not care about Jesus and only care to make Hollywood out of Him. How many times have they done so in the past? Anything to make money.

There are various kinds of unbelievers. Those who sincerely seek (if so, eventually) Jesus and those who do not care at all (reject Truth they've received). I feel as if Mr. James Cameron is simply out for money. You know what the sick part is that people fall for this lame claim of him (filkmaker, Hollywood) finding Jesus' "lost tomb". Its unbelievable, but its media and the media cares for attention because attention = money in the end.

Chad -- I couldn't agree with you better. To be honest, I feel anger that they are demeaning Jesus and the Power of God is such a way. All we can do is pray for those people and ask that God will convict their hearts.

However, what's strange is that James Cameron also produced a film with the same guy (who is wearing a yamaka like cap all the time) called "Exodus Decoded." They are proving that the Exodus happen through science. However, a deeper meaning could be that they are trying to prove that the Exodus happened, but God didn't have any part in it. You should check it out.

About people watching these things just to see what hollywood has done is sad in my opinion. But I am not one to judge.

Well --- that is all I guess!

Blessings,

I really would not waste my time watching the rubbish these people want to show on the television. I have stopped watching it as there is too much nonsense and not much worth watching. I spend most of my time on the internet.

I like to keep my mind fixed on Jesus and not get it polluted with rubbish.

We have to be careful what we watch, read, listen to, and how we speak.

What we feed on will come out.

That is why the Bible says:

Phil.4.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

God bless  :rainbow: :rose:
