Amos 7:7; Thus He showed me, and behold, the Lord was standing by a vertical wall with a plumb line in His hand.
Amos 7:8; The Lord said to me, “What do you see, Amos?” And I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said,
“Behold I am about to put a plumb line
In the midst of My people Israel.
I will spare them no longer.
Amos 7:9; “The high places of Isaac will be desolated And the sanctuaries of Israel laid waste.
Then I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.”
What's a plumb line? Back in ancient times before we had "levels" and sophisticated computerized tools, builders would just take a string with a rock attached to the end of it.
They just let the rock hang an inch or two above the ground. The line the was attached to, was the plumb line. It was the reference point of what was perfectly vertical.
If the plumb line was a little bit off, the entire structure was off.
I'm an old guy. Maybe not the oldest here on TalkJesus, but I figure I'm towards the upper end. A lot has changed in my life. Things I never thought I would see. Some for the better, some for the worse.
I'm old enough to remember when we could bring Bibles to school, and even pray in school. I was alive when the US sill had only 48 states.
When I was young most men worked and supported their families. Most women stayed home and raised children.
When I was young most parents still spanked their children, even schools did this. I myself was acquainted with the "rod of correction" more than once by a teacher or coach at the school.
Back then children didn't question or talk back to their parents.
There were no Hindu temples in the US in those days, there were no Muslim mosques anywhere to be found here. No one knew what Wicca was.
Communism and socialism were frowned on, men went to war and fought for freedom, even for other countries.
Fornication and adultery were still sins to be shunned, people who did these things weren't allowed to be leaders in the church. Most people who did these things were ashamed to go to church.
I though being a homosexual was mostly a myth. I had heard of such things, but it was never talked about. It certainly wasn't in movies or on television.
There was no internet, pornography was in adult magazines hidden behind the counter where no one could see them.
Gender dysphoria and relative truth weren't even of the horizon. There were no abortion clinics, there was no antifa, and liberalism was discouraged.
Now a days, if a parent spanks a child... it's "child abuse". If a parent tries to teach a child about Judeo-Christian morals, it's propaganda and idealogical abuse.
If a man supports his family and the wife stays home, it's misogyny and gender abuse. If a woman wants to stay home and raise children, she is "a victim of a male dominated society".
Fornication and adultery have become so common and prevalent today, that many churches no longer even ask if people are married. All are accepted because "Go loves us all".
Some churches now openly support Gay and Lesbian relationships, even for leaders in "the church".
Christianity is now called "an antiquated, intolerant religion whose time has passed".
slowly, ever so slowly, bit by bit... we are being brainwashed. We have become more and more accepting of sin.
Children no longer respect parents, parents no longer have time to raise children, careers are more important. So children are being raised by liberal video games, liberal teachers, muslim influences,
and the gay agenda. What is "normal" has shifted, it has moved... slowly, imperceptibly, more and more towards sin and chaos.
Even Christians argue against child discipline and for feminism. Even Christians say we should be more and more tolerant.
I suppose society changes, people change... but my Bible says God never changes. I'm pretty sure he doesn't become more and more tolerant.
I'm pretty sure His plumb line hasn't moved.
