The natural mind vs. the Spiritual mind

We are told in scripture, that which is first is not spiritual, but is natural. We are also told, the first man is of the earth and is earthly. And this first man speaks of the earth, only knowing what he knows naturally. This also speaks to the carnal mind verses the spiritual mind, and the spirit that is in the world verses the Spirit of God. Just as it is written, man knows the things of man by the spirit of man that is in him. Even so the things of God no man knows, but the Spirit of God. So in order to know and understand the spiritual things of God, we need to have the Spirit of God working in us, giving us eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit is saying in God’s written words.

We are told the natural man receives not the the things of the Spirit of God, and neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned. So those who are of the world, and those who are of the spirit of this world, will not receive the spiritual things of God because they are yet carnally minded. It is written, to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is Life and peace. So the spirit that is in the world works death in them, but the Holy Spirit works Life in us. Just as it is written, greater is He who is in you, than he that is in the world.

The natural man only knows what he can see, hear, and feel in the natural world, and often judges by outward appearances. But the invisible spiritual things of God he cannot see, nor can he understand, neither will he believe them being blinded by the spirit that is in him. Like worldly men of science, who the world holds in high regard as wise men; these are really nothing more than fools in God’s eyes, because they do not believe in the invisible God.

A good example of how the natural man sees things, and how God sees things is shown in the conversation between Jesus and the Pharisee, a ruler of the Jews named Nicodemus. When Jesus told Nicodemus he must be born again in order to see the Kingdom of God, Nicodemus replied, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?” Nicodemus knew nothing of a spiritual birth from above, he only knew of natural child birth. It is much the same with those who are of the spirit of this world, they only know what they know naturally.

So this carnal mindset is not limited to the secular world, as many who claim to be born again Christians are still under this carnal condition, being yet in the flesh and unable to receive the spiritual things of God. These carnal Christians have often been taught by other carnally minded men, therefore having been taught by the wisdom of this world, and not by the Wisdom that only comes from God; they also remain brutish in their understanding into the spiritual things of God.

God made foolish the wisdom of this world. In order to understand the many mysteries found in God’s written words, you need to receive the Wisdom that only comes from God. And this Wisdom is not achieved by going to schools and Universities, or Bible college, or church services, or watching videos. This Wisdom cannot be taught by carnally minded men, neither can it be learned by carnally minded men. This Wisdom is a gift from God given to His elect saints who believe in His Word Jesus Christ and are born again of His Spirit. It is only by the Spirit of God that a man can receive understanding into the deep spiritual things of God.

If any man lacks Wisdom let him ask of God in faith. Peace and God bless

The wisdom and understanding into the many mysteries found in God’s Word comes from God as a gift of the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 2:6
For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Luke 21:15
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gain say nor resist.

James 1:5-6

King James Version

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

1 Corinthians 12:8
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

Ephesians 1:17
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

Mark 4:11
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

The carnal mind also likes to fulfill the lust of the flesh and does not walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16
"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

Galatians 5:19-21
"19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

Yes the first state of man is flesh, and is carnally minded. This carnal mind strives against the Spirit of God. This is the enmity between the 2 seeds, flesh vs Spirit.

Romans 8:7
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Jesus came to remove that enmity in us when we are made a new man in Christ.

Ephesians 2:15
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Hello @StewardoftheMystery,

There are two natures operating in the believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. This knowledge was a great help to me: it helped me to understand the conflict within me as a young believer, and gave me assurance in place of doubt. For an unbeliever does not experience that internal conflict between the two natures, as He does not have a new nature; not having been born from above.

This conflict is the one internal evidence of salvation we have, which Satan cannot counterfeit, and should therefore be rejoiced in.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

When a person is still in the flesh, and is yet carnal there will be conflict. But when a person is born again of the Holy Spirit that old Adam sin nature dies, and we then (by being born again) put on the nature of Christ; being made a new creature in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Romans 8:9
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

We done, "Complete", you got it in full Bloom.:pensive:
Even as your Brother in Christ, "The Apostle Paul" has declared when he wrote this "Epistle" to The Brothers and Sisters in Christ in "Rome" around "A.D. 57-58 about 24 years after the dead and Resurrection of "The Salvation of GOD". in Which He "had a "Christophany" that He was a "Chosen Vessel" Chosen By GOD for A Special Purpose before anything that was to be created was created, For it is Him who explains The Characters of The Brand "NEW Creatures" while operating in The "Corrupted Mortal" flesh, the Carnal body that effects the soul, in which The creature is trap in "corruption" suffering until the day it have its freedom and be set free.:pensive:

Romans 7 (ASV)
14For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15For that which I do I know not: for not what I would, that do I practise; but what I hate, that I do. 16But if what I would not, that I do, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me. 18For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good is not. 19For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practise. 20But if what I would not, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me.

21I find then the law, that, to me who would do good, evil is present. 22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23But I See A Different Law In My Members, Warring Against The Law Of My Mind!!!!!!!!! And bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members. 24Wretched man that I am! who:pensive: shall deliver me out of the body of this death? 25I Thank God Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. So Then I Of Myself
With The Mind, Indeed, Serve The Law Of God; But With The Flesh The Law Of Sin.

Over the years of sharing the Truth in the gospel message I have found that those who defend ongoing sin rush to Romans 7 in defense of their own sinful condition.

But I would urge all to read Romans 6 and Romans 8 in order to understand the cure that is found in Christ for the Romans 7 condition.

Romans 6

King James Version

6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”

I would also have you notice what Paul said above in verse 19. This explains why Paul spoke “after the manner of men” in Romans 7.

Paul was not speaking of himself in Romans 7, he was speaking to those who were still in the flesh and those who were still yet carnal , which is “after the manner of men” Paul was speaking to them this way because of the “infirmity of their flesh”.

Paul was not struggling with sin as some try to suggest, but Paul knew that his audience was yet carnal.

I see your relations to the witness of man, But "GOD" Reveals "His TRUTH" to His Own and do not rely on men to convey His Truth to His own children. To others the words in a bible is just mere human words. That has to be interpret as a humans, see words. and that has been design By GOD. Only a fool would think that GOD would leave His Own Children to be taught by the hands of a mortal man. And he is Their "FATHER".

But A DEVIL, will try to deceive one to think they can. 'It is called The "gift of Pride" For The devil hands out "Pride" to Christians as if it is "Candy' that is presented To The one who scatters it out, to those who have a "Sweet Tooth".

Romans 12:3
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
I have no idea what or why you are taking a sentence out of a "Text" of a English Translation of "The Original Copied Manuscript" how strange is that, as If A sentence that you have chosen can describe "The WORD OF GOD" With full content.
