or on a bus that you won't make them sick if they sit near you.

Sure, but when you're in the midst of a crisis, you don't wait for iron-beyond-all-doubt-conclusive-proof. You act on the best available information and evidence.

If you look at the uk death rate from coronavirus matched with the three national lockdown, you'll see that the number of deaths declined sharply following the lockdowns.

And you'd expect self isolation to affect the spread of transmissible disease.

I cannot believe that people write such rubbish.
This is not the first plague and pandemic to come upon us.
Even the Bible teaches us to separate the sick from the healthy [quarantine] and to wash hands.

One badly managed State by incompetent left-wing bureaucrats that failed to uphold these health safety regulations are directly responsible for the deaths of 800 old people in care homes.
My State that has maintained over the last year stringent health procedures and undertook a three month lockdown early last year, has of today suffered 4 deaths.
As of today the total death toll for Australia is 909 (take away the failed State stats and you can see that we in Oz saved ourselves from a viral catastrophe).

What is the crazy politics where people choose infection and death over obeying straightforward modern health and hygiene practices that will help alleviate the spread and death rates of this vicious Wuhan coronavirus plague.
Here in Australia we undertook wearing masks in public (often optional), hand washing and sanitizing, bouts of quarantining, and periods of lockdowns of the economy and sports.
Now we reap the rewards with NO community transmission of this virus; with only a few isolated cases arising; usually from those returning overseas due to lapses in quarantine protocols.
We are back to a full economy, sports games, entertainment, the hospitality industry is coming back onto its feet, football and cricket are enjoying large crowds.
No pain no gain. A pandemic must be managed by proven health sanitation and quarantining - experience for such comes from history.
The Spanish Flu killed some 20 million people. Is that what we want again?
