I would like to start off with Pope John Paul the II, in the name of Jesus....

The correct way though... your thoughts please

He is no longer the pope, do I say blessed John Paul the II or do I say blessed John Paul the Great in anticipation of his future sainthood. I am sure anyway would be ok, I just want the perfect way.

jpat,
Welcome to talkJesus.
I'm not aware of a formula for prayer that you should abide by.

Matthew 6:7
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

I pray as the Spirit leads me. The same way I try to live. I'm not Catholic, so I would not use Pope John Paul's name in my prayer at all unless I'm praying for him. Which, I wouldn't do now that he has passed on. But I'm sure another Catholic may be able to tell you the proper beginning to your prayer.

Jesus himself told us to pray like this...Matthew 6:9-13 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

"...Prayer is not merely what we say to God but what the Holy Spirit inspires in our hearts to lift up before the throne of God. That is why I often begin my prayers with “Lord, lay upon my heart the things that are upon yours”.
-Edmund Chan

My hope is that this helped some.

God bless,
Nigh

Welcome to Talk Jesus, and JESUS only. "Pope" has no value here whatsoever, Bible says so clearly that only Jesus matters, only Jesus saves. Why you would "like to start off with Pope John Paul" is beyond me. Who is he? Can he save you? Can he answer your prayers? Can he heal you?

Bingo. Thank you Father GOD for discernment on me and my moderators.

Mr "jpat" is a devil in disguise, a liar.

How naive, yet humorous.

Hey Chad at least he prayed in the name of Jesus and not John Paul II.

True but his motive is to promote the "pope" (I editd his last post which showed this).

"Anyone who blasphemes the Pope is not worthy of Jesus."

That is a pope worshipping being. Blasphemy cannot be done against people. Its sad that he thinks so. May GOD guide his lost soul.

I know brother :D

I just also wanted to point out to others that may disagree with my decision to ban him. You know as a moderator that you are, people love to bash me for what I do :)

Praise GOD for His salvation in Christ to us, and of course for good medicine called laughter.

Friends in Christ,

I'm not Catholic. So I'm asking...do they(Catholics) think that the Pope and or Mary is in heaven doing works on thier behalf?

Curiously,
Nigh

Pope? I'm silent. Mary? I would say if she sees what's going on here on earth (which I'm sure she does) she is probably grieving with GOD that people pray or worship anyone but the true Savior Jesus Christ.

I think they do pray to different so called saints and to Mary the mother of Jesus. This thread was the first I heard of praying in the name of the pope. I've never been catholic but I have been acquainted with a few.

My understanding has always been that when we do get to heaven we will be dancing and worshiping God unceasingly. Except for half of and hour just once in all of time.

Revelation 8:1
And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

The only time mentioned the the worshiping stops. I think Mary and the saints are way too busy praising our Lord to do anything for us. Even if I believed that they somehow were given the authority or power by God to do anything.

Lovingly,
Nigh
