Mark 32:28
"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.
We know that Israel was restored in 1948. We know that this is a seemingly impossible event, that they should come back into existence after over 1000 years.
However we also know that this was prophecied through the Bible. (Based on the sticky)
But also through this study.
Jeremiah 24:
"This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Babylonians. My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them. I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.
In this case we can actually see what figs represent in the Bible.
Figs represent the Jewish people. (The people of Israel)
Now in this case knowing that figs equal the Jews, where does a fig come from?
A fig comes from a fig tree.
Where is the Jewish homeland? Israel.
Figs = the Jews (as stated in Jeremiah)
Fig tree = Israel (where figs grow)
Let's take another look at Mark 32:28
"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near."
Now we know that when a fig tree is dead, it does not produce fruit, it's leaves are withered.
However when a fig tree is alive, when it blooms, when figs are found, it is alive, the leaves which are in season are tender.
Jesus did not give us this parable to tell us about the seasons.
This is a prophecy of his second coming. Israel was founded in 1948. Do you know what year it is?
