If you spend your time and energy boasting about your best qualities and accomplishments, you’re missing out on the best parts of life. If you grow in self-absorption, you’ll miss out on the people God has placed around you and, most importantly, the Lord’s mercy and justice.
God is here right now, reaching out to you and waiting for you to reach out as well. A mysterious and holy God wants you to know Him and His kindness and righteousness today.
When you remain absorbed in your own wisdom, strength, or riches, your joy will be built on a fragile foundation. You can be proved wrong at any time, your strength will surely fail one day, and your riches are hardly guaranteed. There is far more security to be found in the heart pursuit of knowing the Lord and investing in—and boasting about—your relationship with Him.
Prayer: Help me, Lord, to seek You above anything else I can gain for myself. When I seek You with my whole heart, I can find lasting peace and rest.
