Interesting brother, Christmas begins like everything which was, or ever has been created. One's own mindset! While it is very true one can look at Christmas in this way, there are many ways to look at this Holiday. We know what Christmas means of course, but to the unbeliever they are following in a tradition, which blesses others without them even knowing it!! LOL Acts 20:35!!!
This is a part of the very spirit of Christmas to me bro! I did say part!! hehe The value of giving, and causing another to become joyful is due to the fact, in my humble opinion ,that there is one fact which is ALWAYS in effect for all people!! All have a need to become needed!! And yes wanted as well!! It is upon this need our Jesus came to us in the first place. For even God Almighty has a need to be needed!! For love is the nature of need. And there is no better way to fill that need then with supply!!( Phil 4:19) It is upon this thought which can affect believers as well as unbelievers. Believe it, or not.
