'And He said unto me,
"Son of man, can these bones live?"
And I answered,"
O Lord GOD, Thou knowest."
(Ezekiel 37:3)

Hello there,

Ezekiel 37 refers to the days in which we now live, in which Israel has returned to their land, but are still spiritually dead. Ezekiel was asked a question, 'Can these bones live? To which He answered, 'O Lord God, Thou knowest'. He is then told to prophesy 'upon' or 'over' the dry bones, and is assured that a day would come when the breath of God shall cause them to live. Consequently he sees each bone come together 'bone to bone', yet without 'breath' or 'spirit'. He is then told for a second time to prophesy 'unto' the wind (breath or spirit). The bones become clothed with flesh and become animated by breath, and stand upon their feet, an exceeding great army (Ezekiel 37:10).

This army consists of those who had been previously 'slain' (Ezekiel 37:9), they had suffered death by violence (see Ezekiel 23:10 & Ezekiel 26:6). The word translated 'valley' in (Ezekiel 37:2) means 'a plain' as in Isaiah 40:4, and is the word used by Zechariah when he refers to the 'valley of Megiddon' (Zechariah 12:11), the place of Israel's national repentance, and the scene of the great battle yet to be fought at Armageddon (Revelation 16:16).

This valley is the plain of Esdraelon at Megiddo, lying between Haifa on the Mediterranean coast and the Jordan. In this valley, near the hill of Megiddo (Armageddon) the gathering to battle of Revelation 16 will take place. There, in Revelation 16:1 , it is 'the spirits of devils' working miracles that bring the Kings of the earth to battle . In Ezekiel 37:5-6, it is the spirit of God that breathes on the slain and quickens them into life. They are the whole House of Israel (Isaiah 37:11). Not only the 'slain' but the dead are to be raised, and according to Ezekiel 11:17 the scattered of Israel are to be gathered from among the nations and placed in their own land. Not in part, as now, but the whole.

I believe we could be on the brink of seeing these events working out. If not immediately, then within the lifetime of my grandchildren who are now in their teens and twenties. What do you feel about this possibility, within light of recent events on the world stage?

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

I know you already know my point of view, but I believe Ezekiel 37 is talking about the resurrection of God’s people, Israel.

Notice they are coming out of their graves…..

Ezekiel 37:11-14

King James Version

11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open “your graves,”and cause you to come up out of “your graves,” and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened “your graves,”O my people, and brought you up out of “your graves,”
14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord.”

Also keep in mind that it is written, that “not all Israel, is of Israel”
