Dear bros and sis in Christ ,

I am still new in my Christian faith .TJ forum has guided me and I know I will grow with my brothers and sisters support and prayers .

At this moment can anyone explain to me the meaning of the wilderness experience from the Christian point of view. My Christian friend told me that during our Christian growth , we will come to a stage when we have to face the wilderness experience .

I had one sometime , last year . It was not too good . I felt being deserted into a very far land , with nobody to confide to . ( nobody could understand me )

I slept my sadness away and I cried to myself .... I just wanted to be left alone . I felt so very far away from JESUS. But .... not too long , my sadness turned into joy ! I began to see things in a better perspective and I understand why this and that had to take place. I felt more secure and my trust in the LORD JESUS grew . I keep the WORD close beside me every day .I even bring my BIBLE to work . I keep asking the HOLY SPIRIT for guidance and wisdom to discern things .In many ways , it is my desire to please JESUS and be close to HIM at all times.
This song " As the deer pantenth " has made realise how sinful I am and I am not worthy to be with the Lord. The words are just too beautiful to describe .JESUS loves us all. It is a wonderful experience to see JESUS take control of our lives .

'HIS grace is sufficient for thee. '

 Wow, linda, for not knowing what a wilderness experience is....you sure described it very well!

It certainly does sound like you have been through it. And you'll go through it again. It's proof that He loves you and wants you all to Himself at times. And you know already how much you grow spiritually during that time, as you rely more on Him.

God bless you!!! I enjoy your posts and your radiance and love for Jesus Christ.

The 'wilderness experience' is taken from the picture of the Israelites leaving Egypt, and then facing the wilderness, after they had miraculesly crossed over the Red Sea. They faced a treck to Caanan, Gods Land of promise. Which was through the wilderness

In the wilderness, they had nothing upon which they could depend upon but the Lord, a wilderness indeed. Wihout the LOrd, they would have perished.

Just my thoughts.

Resting in the Lord

Thank you Stephen for your posting. It is good .
When we face the wilderness experience , we let go everything and depend on the Lord .Is it the same as the term 'resting in the Lord ' .

I hope someone would put some light on this .
Thank you .

Yes, I would say that it is the same. Trusting in Jesus.

The Israelites rebelled so often in the wilderness........ but God was gracious. He never left them. God never let His people down. He was alawys there to take care of. Being human like us, there were the occasions when human passions ran high.

Some among them returned to idolatory, and were lost. God is a jealous God. He loves us so much. Also when they left Egypt, on that Passover night, ....a "mixed multitude" accompanied them. So apart from the fraility, or lack of belief, and trust in Jehovah, for the people of God, this mixed multitude never understood Gods Provision, creating many problems.
