They Changed "A Mighty Fortress is Oir God" to Diminish the Name of Jesus

These lines in the hymn "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" have been changed to diminish the name of Jesus.

One little word shall fell him.
That word above all earthly powers,

The following is how this should read.

One mighty name shall fell him.
That name above all earthly powers,

I have determined this simply by what makes sense to me.

When was it changed, who changed it?

For example I attend the United Methodist Church and we have United Methodist Hymns.
What denomination are you speaking of that change the words?

I cannot find any reference to it being changed @AlertChristians
But I am not disputing that this does happen.
