Here I am thirsty for knowledge, to know more about God. Not always disciplined but truly wanting to know more. Find it hard to open the bible and praying sometimes is hard so I come here thirsty...

Love it here but find myself thirsting to find fellowship, learning from more mature christians, like sitting listening and/or sharing in the chat room, because God pops in there and I learn. Anyone else feel so very thirsty?? I want to meet you all ...

Hi sis,

Have you ever thought this thirst to know more about God is in fact a thirst to know God more? There is a difference in knowing more about God and knowing Him more. Keep reading His Word, talk to Him, listen to Christian music and sing along and worship Him all through the day (when you can), not just for a few minutes morning or night. Praying isn't just about praying long prayers with big words - it's talking to Him and listening to what He has to say to you. It's good to talk with fellow believers, but we must be careful not to substitute our time spent with other Christians for time we need to spend alone with God. Only Jesus can satisfy the thirst we have for Him.

Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled."

Amen and Amen sister Sunshine307, your post is filled with the words of the HolySpirit, great advice and I hope they find residence in sister Sleepy's heart and help her to grow in intimacy with Jesus.

Thank you

Yes that's exactly what I'm thirsty for so I feel I need to try and deepen my relationship with God. Hmmmm, I thought what is missing is fellowship and understanding on my part. I do chat to God a lot but sometimes feel I'm just a wall away, never quite sure I'm quite connecting. Hmmm.

But yes in my heart shall your words sit and may God help me draw closer. I do want to know God more hmmmm.

Thank you

You are a real gem Sleepy, your hunger and thirst for Jesus is very refreshing. Keep looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

God bless you sister Sleepy. Sunshine gave a great reply. This thirst I believe is not only you growing with the Lord, but perhaps GOD making you thirst. Likely as a result of your prayer request too. We all should thirst more and more each day. We can always have plenty of Jesus, but He's so awesome that we can't seem to get enough of Him! :) Amen

Sleepy I think you just met a few, add me in the mix and I know there are a whole lot more. But as Sunshine beautifully said, it is a thirst for Jesus, it is a thirst to know God more. Yes I also like to have fellowship with other believers, and its wonderful to learn from one another and have that common bond. But the thirst and hunger we are looking for can only be satisfied by Christ and Him alone, and to get to know Him we can do just as what Sunshine said, by reading the Word, praying, etc...

God Bless you Sleepy,

:shade: Calluna

Thank you again

I have felt really close to God today and I do believe that your prayers have done some pretty powerful things to me these last few days/week so I thank you for taking that time to pray for me. I have felt more confident praying, praising and listening today especially.

Talked to God all day today about all sorts. It has been easier as I have not been at work (I have to admit) and had a little more focus but I was wondering is it okay to talk to God about say ...shopping or is that too trivial?

Can we just have a chat like we would to a friend if we are serious at other times?

An example...today I was buying a special birthday present and I really wanted to get something she'd appreciate and would make her happy. Is it okay to ask about stuff like that or hmmmm?

A hunger isn't such a bad thing. I sense Sleepyhead that you feel within there is something missing that the world cannot satisfy but only God can give. I can only echo Jan's reply, draw close to God by seeking him first.

3 scriptures for you....

seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and ALL these things shall be added unto you (Matt 6 v 33)

trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths (proverbs 3:5-6)

ask and it shall be given...seek and ye shall find....knock and the door shall be opened (Matt 7)

So notice that you have 5 active verbs...seek, trust, ask, seek again and knock and as you actively pursue God He will respond as He loves to bless us.

God bless
Biggie

Nothing is too trivial to talk to God about. I talk to Him about everything. You will find as you ask Him about things like what you want to buy for a special present He will lead you to the very thing you are to buy, even though you don't know what you wanted in the first place!!!!!

I understand it's easier when you're not at work, just talk to Him when you can, include Him in everything. The more you do it, the easier and more natural it becomes to talk to Him. He is the best Friend you will ever have or ever need.
