THIS IS ABSOLUTELY SCARY !!
(just in case someone has not heard about this)

McDonalds, Burger king, Time Zone etc...
All places with ball pits in the children's play area.
One of my sons lost his watch, and was very
upset. We dug and dug in those balls,
trying to find his watch.
Instead, we found vomit, food, faeces,
and other stuff I do not want to discuss.
I went to the manager and raised hell.
Come to find out, the ball pit is only
cleaned out once a month. I have doubts
that it is even done that often.
My kids will never play in another ball pit.
Some of you might not be parents, but
you may have nieces, nephews, grandchildren,
or friends with children.
This will pertain to you too. As I
read the following, my heart sank.
I urge each and every one of you to
pass this on to as many people as you can.
I cannot stress how important this is!
Hi. My name is Lauren Archer, my son
Kevin and I lived in Melbourne , Australia ..
On October 2nd, 1999 I took my only
son to McDonald's for his 3rd birthday.
After he finished lunch, I allowed him
to play in the ball pit. When he started
whining later on, I asked him what was
wrong, he pointed to the back of his
pull-up and simply said 'Mommy, it
hurts.' I couldn't find anything wrong
with him at that time. I bathed him
when we got home, and it was at that
point when I found a welt on his left buttock.
Upon investigating, it seemed as if there
was something like a splinter under
the welt. I made an appointment to see
the doctor the next day, but soon he started
vomiting and shaking, then his eyes
rolled back into his head.. From there,
we went to the emergency room. He
died later that night.
It turned out that the welt on his buttock
was the tip of a hypodermic needle that
had broken off inside.
The autopsy revealed that Kevin had
died from a heroine overdose. The next
week, the police removed the balls from
the ball pit. There was rotten food, several
hypodermic needles: some full, some used;
knives, half-eaten candy, diapers, faeces,
and the stench of urine.
Don't think it's just McDonald's either.
A little boy had been playing in a ball pit @
a Burger King & started complaining of his
legs hurting. He later died too. He was
found to have snake bites all over his
legs & buttocks. When they cleaned the ball
pit they found that there was a snake's nest
in the ball pit. He had suffered numerous bites
from a very poisonous snake.
Repost this if it scares you!! Repost this
if you care about kids!! Please forward
this to all loving mothers, fathers and
anyone who loves and cares for children!!
What has this world come to?? If a child
is not safe in a child's play area then where??
A Note From the Sender:
I really have no proof that this
happened it was sent to me by a friend.
BUT IT IS CERTAINLY
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY SCARY !!

Fear not, tranquility.

Reason 1: Several bible verses say not to.
Reason 2: This story is an urban legend and has been circulating the internet for more than a decade.

Helpful notes for scary stories that seem a bit far-fetched:

Check out the information on Snopes website. If it's been around for a little while, they'll probably have either proved it or disproved it accordingly.

Pay attention to the details. I don't know much about heroin, but it seems nearly impossible for someone to get an overdose from simply being pricked with a needle. I would bet that with about an hour of good research on heroin and dosage levels etc.. a reasonable person would conclude that this "accident" is so unlikely as to not be true.

Check out the source of your information. If you can't confirm it with at least two reputable news sources, take it for what it is--a scary story that seems totally unreliable that is, so far, unsubstantiated. I can't even count the number of similar stories that people have emailed to me. Usually with about 12 seconds of research I find that my initial suspicions were correct, and the too-wild-to-be-believed "caution tale" was just a bad hoax.

:suspicious:Hoax or not i don't really care

the thought I had here
is people letting their children
out in those things and
how nasty they must be
Gem City!

not to mention what could be in there

that was my only thought..

I'm sorry I know this is an old story
but people seem to forget how nasty those places are
any anyway this is for someone who has never heard of it before

Sorry i was just trying to be helpful..

I guess I'll just keep my thoughts to myself from now on.

No need to apologize. You are right to be skeptical of such a communal play area.

In a "ball pit" the balls turn and slide and come into contact with hundred's of children's skin and mouths and noses. Yuck! I'm sure that viruses and bacteria are spread in those places, and a parent of small children would do well to be wary of letting their kids play in that area. The reason that urban legends like this get started, and then pick up steam, and then last for decades, is that there's a kernel of truth to them. They are filthy and bacteria filled. It is disgusting to think about submersing your body into those balls. It is possible to get sick or to get unknown bodily fluids on you. Those reasons are reason enough to stay away, but there's no need to buy into the sensationalized section of the myth that merely serves as an additional scare tactic. Trying to change someone's behavior by presenting a fearful mechanism is called "terrorism," and I'm not a huge fan of such manipulation.
