Dear Sister,
Sometimes in the passion our Brother in Christ has for God, His Word, and the Body of Christ that he has a tendency to go a bit overboard in critiquing of others that he sees as having failings that should be overcome by now.
Sometimes a gentle reminder, is the most effective way of reminding him of the need to express sometimes tenderly God's Love, and not a strong cuff in the back of the head that some of us grew up with, and may yet need.

Sometimes it is hard to use gentleness when the ridicule is confronting and demeaning over and over again, especially when it is regarding Biblical understanding which is quite personal. We do not come here to be ridiculed and criticized- we can find that easily enough out in our daily lives. We should find fellowship and compassion when we come here.

Dear Sister,
As you grow in Christ, you will learn that patience in the face of the greatest storms is one of the best virtues. It can allow one clarity even against what one may see as personal attacks. Stepping back, in prayer, and contemplation of putting oneself in the shoes of another truly helps as well. However, if one allows the emotions of the initial response to affect what you do and say immediately afterwards, you'll normally come out the loser.

I speak from experience here at Talk Jesus as a Moderator. If my initial response was to reflect back at the person what I have received, and so take action upon these emotions. There won't be many members left here at Talk Jesus to post!

Keep in mind that this is also part of our daily lives. How we interact with other Brothers & Sisters, as well as non-believers. Whether a smidgen in time here at Talk Jesus, greater time with our family, job, shopping, wherever it might be, The need to carry this understanding of how these interactions affect us, and how we deal with them is paramount to a joyful life or a frustrating one. I'm not perfect at it, and do have my moments, but when I have the ability to remind myself to just step back for a moment in prayer, worship, and/or praise. The light truly shines brighter for doing so, and these personal attacks roll off me like water off a ducks back!
