1/ If you remove from your diet all food that you didn't actually eat through genuine hunger and pre planned decision most people would save enough calories in a week without doing anything one other thing.

2/Are you hungry or are you thirsty
70% of our body is water. So it makes sense that we need more water than food. The message sent to the brain when we are thirsty is the same as when we are hungry they get confused. So we go out and eat a sandwich and we still get the nagging feeling we are missing something so we eat again. Very few of us realize its water our body wants not food. Drink a large glass of water in 15minutes if you still feel hungry than eat but drink first.

3/ What is good weight loss.
1-2 pounds a week is good, safe weight loss. its also much harder to put back on. If you lose 6pounds in weight you have not lost 6pounds of fat you have lost muscle, and water too. This is not good as you will replace this the minute you eat normal again. A healthy diet is not until your best friends wedding in June it is for the rest of your life.

4/ Breakfast is by far thee most important meal of the day. This is the food that gets your body working and burning fat. Eat like a King for breakfast a Queen for lunch and a Pauper for dinner. As the day goes on your body slows down as so does the size of food you eat.

5/ If after finishing your dinner or lunch and you cannot get up from the table and run up and down up stairs you have eating too much food. If you feel tired after food then what you eat was not proper food. After eating you should feel like someone has filled you with fuel enough fuel to keep you burning for four hours.

6/Beware of the diet label. Just because your fav snack has bought out a range of diet snacks does not mean they are any better than the others they still have plenty fat and calories and lots more artificial flavors. Diet is more often than not worse than its full fat sister.

7/ Learn to listen. Your body is screaming at you every day telling you what it wants the thing is we can no longer hear it and when we do we don't get it right. i once watched my sister buy a large bag of nuts place two in her mouth and dump the rest. I asked why did you do that? She said all my body wanted was two. We can learn to understand what our body is asking of us by just listening to ourselves.

That is awesome advice. I have to keep reminding myself of these points.
One of the things that caused me to gain so much weight is "emotional eating". If I felt anxious my favorite anti-dote was a big load of carbs, they calm me down immediately. Even being angry could cause me to crunch down on some junk food and blow it big time.

I have lost a small amount of weight in this last month (under mounty's encouragement and direction). It's funny though---just losing 4 or 5 pounds can make a big difference. I can see my neck, for instance, lol. Most of the fat I lost was belly fat. It is said that belly fat causes diabetes and heart problems. It also looks ugly and unfeminine, if you ask me. I am actually looking forward to losing more weight! I realize now that I don't have to starve, I just need to plan ahead, be prudent, and don't eat because I'm anxious, scared, or angry.

My husband is very proud of me. He keeps going on an on about it, even though I haven't lost that much. He says I look healthier. What really surprises me, is that he has learned to adjust to me using turkey and chicken in recipes instead of red meat. He always put up a verbal fight to that notion, but when I really started doing it, he realized it tastes good, and it helps him keep his belly flat, too.

A couple nights ago, I got a strong craving for diet Dr. Pepper. I haven't had any in a long time. My husband said, "Are you sure it's not fruit that you need?" I thought that was really neat. But I must confess, I did go out and buy me a diet Dr. Pepper! I can only eat so many apples, oranges, and bananas. Not much of a variety of fruit this time of year in this part of the country.

Last night I loaded up on green beans at supper time. My daughter said, "My word, mom." I said: "Well, they only have 25 calories a serving." She said:
"Well, you have enough there to make about 200 calories, at least!" Then she and my husband laughed and laughed.

This is what I think is really, really neat about my diet, or lifestyle change: It helps my family and they end up eating more vegetables and eating healthier. That is really important to me. My toddler loves picking up vegetables piece by piece and eating them with his hands. I want him to eat healthy all of his life so that he will not become overweight or diabetic, etc. Diabetes type 2 runs in my family, from both my mother's side, and my father's side. But it's not going to run through this family, God willing!

One thing that I have been lazy about: I have stopped doing the food diary. "Methinks" this is why my weight loss has stopped. I'm sneaking too many snacks and not writing them down. Started back with food diary this a.m.

Today is Nov. 16, almost one month has passed since I last posted here. I have lost 3 more pounds in one month. Slow loss, but I believe the weight will stay off. Total now of 7 pounds loss.

Thank You, God, for helping me. Please continue to guide me. And don't let me become obcessed by this, but to keep my eyes centered upon You and your Will. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.

Healthy weight loss tips:

1. Exercise at least 3-5 times a week (if you can do more, by all means, go ahead).

2. Drink water everyday (at least 90% of the day).

3. Eat small portions (portions of food items, on your plate, should be no bigger than your fist. I, personally, don't have more than 3 items on my plate).

4. Never go back for 2nd's (it will be there, as leftovers, the next day. No need to worry).

5. When exercising, make sure you have all 3 components in your workout plan (cardio, strength training, and flexibility).

6. Eat lots of fruits and veggies. And less meat (what I do is eat meat every other day, instead of everyday).

7. Lessen your intake of junk food and sweets (eat them very moderately/sparingly or save them for special occasions).

8. Lessen your intake of sodas and alcohol (if you do drink some).

9. Just stay activate most of the day (at least 75% of the day if you can).

10. Find inspirational stories of others who have lost weight and read about them (I love the stories in the Leslie Sansone books that she has out).

11. NEVER use the word "diet". Guess what the first 3 letters of that word is?....Uh-huh...You can basically eat anything, just keep certain types of foods in moderation/sparingly and eat in small portions.

12. Get plenty of sleep (when you sleep well, you can keep a workout routine everyday, much more efficiently).

Healthy spirit, healthy body

When my soul is not doing good I turn to food for comfort.
When I walk in the Spirit of Jesus and the Holy Spirit I have more peace so I am able to follow the great weightloss tips found in this thread. But, The Holiday was hard, I need to plan ahead next year before I go to the many family gatherings.

Some effective and natural weight loss tips are
Avoid all fat foods and fast foods.
Take low card diet
Eat raw vegetables and fresh fruits
Drink plenty of water in a day
Make regular exercise plan.

Actually, there are studies (my husband found them) that say exercising every day is NOT a good idea. Not only for your muscles and things, but even for your brain. (I can't remember where he said he saw that...but he does a lot of research.)

Before you do any exercise workout, you should do some deep research for yourself and find what works for you.

this is false. staying active and moving is good for you, even on a daily basis. but it is important to get adequate rest and recovery too.

I asked my husband and he said that the study said that 3 times a week exercising (they were talking about speed walking) for 30-45 minutes is a good idea. Any more than that the brain activity would lessen.

What I was trying to make people understand is that there IS such a thing as TOO MUCH exercise. It isn't good for you.

Just like there is a thing called TOO LITTLE exercise which is also not good for you.

I believe...people should do their OWN research on what THEY want to do and then go from there.

I'm not a fitness professional or anything, but I do know what I need to do.

Be careful handing out advice on health things. Some people take things like it's "gospel" when it really isn't.

Do some study for yourself!

I have some that I would like to add ...

Don't look for immediate results. Your initial weight loss will be water weight, so plan for the long haul.
This is a new way of life, so don't make drastic changes.
Set small goals of 5 lb increments.
If you splurge on food, forgive yourself and move on. It happens to everybody.
Find a weight loss buddy who is "on call."
Keep your thoughts positive.
Don't focus on your mishaps.
Keep a journal and write down everything you eat and calories burned during exercise.
If you reach a weight loss plateau, reduce calories and increase exercise.
If you're ready to eat something you know you shouldn't, ask yourself if you want to "wear" it the next day.
Take a "before" picture and tape it on the fridge door.
Take it one day at a time and set realistic goals.
Don't cut out all of your favorite foods, you'll feel deprived. Instead, reduce the portions.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing when exercising. It will be easier for you and you'll be less likely to incur injuries.
Make your exercise as enjoyable as possible. If that means a TV and fan in front of your treadmill, don't hesitate.
Remember not only will you look better, you'll be healthier.
Make losing weight a control issue. Vow to regain control of your weight, and your life.
Reward yourself with non-food items when you reach goals.
You are the only one responsible for your weight and your health.
When you start reaching your small goals, attend social events and enjoy the compliments of others who notice.
Now that's weight loss motivation for the next 5 lbs.
Wear your "fat" clothes around the house. This keeps you aware of how big you really were and gives you satisfaction.
Unfortunately, there's people who will resent or envy your success. Enjoy!
Remember, you're successful with every pound you lose.
The best motivation is when you reach your goals! <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Although I have no issues with my weight, I am also guilty as charged for eating things based on how I felt at the moment. I eat when I am sad, angry, or bored. It wouldn't be so much of a problem if I didn't eat unhealthy items. I eat potato chips, cheetos, and even whole jars of pickles when I am bored which contain too much salt for one day. Thanks for the article!! Will think of this advice next time I decide to eat something and will ask myself if I am really hungry or just eating out of boredom.

Simple solution

Be willing to be hungry. As it has been said, drink more water, whether you want to or not, as it will stave off a lot of hunger, then eat smaller portions of several types of food, to include vegatables, meats, and fruits, and grains as needed. Suffer with hunger pains to a degree. That suffering, if given to the Lord, in humility, will help you to realize that giving in to hunger whenever it hits is like giving into sin. The more you give in to hunger, the greater hold it will have on you. The grocery store has healthy frozen prepared meals under 300 calories a meal. Get ones you like and eat those, 3 times a day, with peanut butter and crackers with water as snacks between meals. Then if you are still hungery, be content being hungry, it doesnt kill you, and is good for the soul.

Avoid more fat and fast foods.
Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.
Drink plenty of water.
Take green tea.
Drink lemon water.
Use fish oil.

Wonderful tips. I am trying to lose some weight, again. I've been exercising and trying to cut back on eating.

My biggest problem is sweets. So I have cut them out for awhile. It's hard, you crave them.

I can't eat alot of fruits and vegtables. To much fiber. I have problems with it.

Lemon water is good. I drink lots of water.

Just some thoughts on this. Have a blessed day.
