Hi I was reading this earlier and i was just wondering what do you guys think of it and how do you guys apply it to your lives.

2co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2co 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
2co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
2co 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

thank you , love sis

A good question, sis.

With my coming from a works oriented, atheist family in which dispays of anger were a regular part of the daily grind, I have had to learn to apply these and related Scriptures to my family relationships. Though my kin now live in different parts of the country, even phone conversations could get to me. My mother especially had a hostile reaction to my being a Christian, and it seemed unfair that I could not share the One Great Thing that gave me a new lease.

The Lord has made it clear that I am not meant for vocal witness to my own kin, because their anger or dismissal is as yet insurmountable. Jesus made it even more apparent that, while remaining silent, I must be diligent to 'take every thought captive' so that His way in me can speak for itself. It has been a slow, gradual change not to let my old infidel habits interfere with displaying God's love toward my kin.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and ever high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

To "not be unequally yoked" means that at all costs we must maintain God's light and truth in our spirits for right conduct. I can be around emotional unbelievers, and still keep the "darkness" from getting the upper hand. It is amazing grace the way God has worked this out in my life!

The verses you quote were written by the Apostle Paul to the Corinthian believers who had allowed persecution to undermine them, and let false teachings creep in. Paul was encouraging the brethren to stand strong and come away from unbelievers, not necessarily physically, but in the power of Christ.

 Thank you to christ. it is great hearing what God has done in your life. Thank you for your input
